then you've got Creed and Rudy on board (and Grady Tate who isn't credited in the album notes). Nice version of Fauré's Pavane too. |

The Ace of Cups finally got to record a debut album after 51 years. Featuring 4 of the 5 original members of the group; Mary Gannon, Denise Kaufman, Mary Ellen Simpson, and Diane Vitalich. Original member Marla Hunt is still around but declined to participate in the recording. A double album packed with 3 albums worth of songs in varying styles including pop, rock, folk, blues, a capella. All original songs featuring the 4 members of the band and some with guest musicians including Taj Mahal, Charlie Musselwhite, David Grisman, and Bob Weir (among others). The album sounds rooted in the late 60's and runs just over 2 hours, so there's a lot to take in. Some of the songs seem to gel better than others but overall it's a good listen and there are definitely some sonic gems sprinkled throughout. This particular song from the album is the current earworm in my head... |
