That's a great album but perhaps not his most consistent, and the Nashville record company insisted on adding strings and standard Nashville recording things that Townes wanted no part of. Dude was obsessed with authenticity and torpedoing his own career so he could stay in Texas and never leave.

I know the title song is great, so I'll try and see what I think about the rest of it. I know not to judge him off just this one album, so it's ok if it's not his greatest overall necessarily.

Oh even Nashville ****ery can't **** with how great he is but the strings can sound corny and you shouldn't associate that with him. I say it's not his best because it's a step below his own perfection on other records. I do really love it though as it's got a lot of his most nihilistic songs and those are generally my favorite Townes songs.

Singeli music in Tanzania is already pretty uptempo, but this shit is like afro-gabba on speed.
No, you can't really dance to it, but maybe you can stand and experience the circling electrons in your brain ready to burn and fizzle into tiny hot suns. {Scientifically incorrect, I know...} and my favorite from the album: |

Going full pop-tard right now, so this bunch of CDs is quite a sight to behold!
Girls Aloud - Chemistry Girls Aloud - Ten (live album) Not sure what I'm gonna feel about this stuff in a full lenght format, but snippets sure sounded catchy. Especially the live album had some of that exhuberant pop magic that you're looking for this sort of thing to deliver. Dannii Minogue - Unleashed: Hits & Rarities She's no Kylie, but at least a few songs of hers that I've heard had some nice House/dance pop vibes and some funky undertones. Kinda curious about what all those "rarities" are gonna be. Lorde - Pure Heroine So much praise from pop fans and critics alike, yet I never really gave her a proper chance. Gonna get around to it now with this one. Carly Rae Jepsen - Emotion Kinda the same situation as with Lorde. Alright, alright, I'm gonna give her a real shot. I feel like people on the internet never stopped gushing about Carly since she first hit the charts years ago. Foxes - All I Need Found it on Spotify. Some tracks had some cool vibes going, so I took the chance on a cheap CD. Gwen Stefani - Love.Angel.Music.Baby Not sure if this is gonna work out well, but the first track is awesome. Gwen Stefani - You Make it Feel Like Christmas There's a really fun cover of Last Christmas. That's all I need. Sold! Last edited by MicShazam; 11-18-2018 at 01:35 PM. |

On top of that, I'm sitting with Spotify, listening to various older pop things I've never given a real shot. Almost through the debut album of ABBA now and it's... kinda repetitive and overly simple, sadly. I kinda thought they were just a bit better as a band, actually.
Next up: Wham! (no idea what to expect, frankly) |
