I just discovered a band in Los Angeles called The Band Of Liars. I found out that its the girl who sang that song "Smile" with Uncle Cracker. ( I always thought it was Sheryl Crow) . Her name is Rae Rae something or other. Really cool stuff, country rock vibe but not bro country at all its like a roadhouse version of Taylor Swift or something thats the closest I can describe. Extremely good songs, and I like her voice a lot too

Ordered these two.
Marie Davidson - Working Class Woman Kind of an odd electronic thing. The deadpan vocals of the one song I've heard in advance makes it feel kinda corny, but in an interesting way. It's getting good reviews and I choose to take a chance with it. Lanie Lane - Nightshade Looking for a lot of blues singers and blues tinged songwriters right now and I loved the Lanie Lane song I bumped into first right away. Totally getting the album! |

Got some very cheap albums:
Beth Rowley - Little Dreamer Her new album Gota Fría is really good, so this was a no-brainer for me. Singer/songwriter with some blues and soul influences. More or less. Girls With Guitars Live Got no CDs with any of these ladies, so it's a perfect opportunity to check out all three at one time. It's blues. Also has a DVD, which must be the whole live concert filmed. I hope so, because I really dig live videos. Cassie Taylor - Out of My Mind More blues. Not the greatest, but it was cheap and I think she's got some level of charm from what little I've heard. Worst case, I'm wrong. No biggie. |

Jesus christ I've got to stop buying music! Last ones for a while, I swear.
The Kut - Valley of Thorns A bit amateur sounding, but also with some interesting vibes to the one song I checked out. Sounds very nineties, sort of emo, pretty modern, a bit metal... Can't think of another band with quite this sound. I love the totally busted sound of the drums. Sounds super loud, somehow. Sheryl Crow - Be Myself Never took any interest in her music to be honest. Seemed just very bland. But her new album kept coming up in relation to other things I've been listening to lately, so I took a closer look. Surprisingly nice and colorful sounding album with some neat songwriting. I just hope there's little to no bland filler. Fingers crossed. Berth Hart - Bang Bang Boom Boom Got two albums of hers recently. Both are a bit up and down, but there's some legit great songs on both. Hoping this one will at least keep that level, but it would be even better if it could rise to something more solid. I like a lot about her style as an artist, so I'm hoping she's got at least one or two great albums somewhere. |
