They're selling a first pressing of Please Please Me for $10 on my front lawn. I'm lonely.

I stumbled upon a Kill Rock Stars first pressing of Elliott Smith's Either Or mint and sealed in a Goodwill thrift store in a crate of Herb Alpert and Sing Along With Mitch.

I walked into a Salvation Army and bought two arm-fulls of Chess label original blues LPs for $1 each.

I strolled into The Bop Shop 15 minutes after a man traded in mint copies of Tom Waits' entire discography that he'd purchased new over 40 years, played once, and shelved. I bought them all on the spot for $20 apiece.

I've been doing this for years. Do it long enough and crazy things will happen.

Also which Budd album?
I bought the complete Budd/John Foxx collaborations vinyl box set recently and already had The Pearl, Moon & Melodies with Cocteau Twins, and The Serpent in Quicksilver on wax so finding The Lovely Thunder for $5 was a no-brainer purchase.

See my reply to Ninetales above. It's a hole in the wall collector's shop with home-taped exploitation VHSes and original horror posters. But after finding the fourth mint Tom Waits LP I stopped and started shelving them together for the next lady or gen who passes through. They were priced below market value. The cheapest US copy of Black Rider on Discogs right now is only VG and listed at $157. The one in the shop looked mint and was stickered at $100.

Wow, are you a Rochesterian? The shop was new to me so I don't know.

Great price. Not enough for me to drive ten hours round trip but that's still a good price. I would have if, say, they had it for like $25. Those things happen. There's a shop near me, that, on the right day, you can find original early 90's pressings for their original price. The owner has a museum of a basement. When he notices a large space in, say, the B section, he'll just go downstairs and grab a handful of B titles and bring them up.

A friend of mine found a 1st press of Soup by Blind Melon for $17.99. Owner doesn't know jack about current record prices.

The same way that I've been randomly listening to that box set this afternoon.
No shit {"Random Radio..."}.
Actually, it is a good set to use for samples.
I used to play stuff simultaneously with it, on radio, back in the 70's.
The narrator, "Mickey" Kapp, had a pretty amazing life. Can point you to stories.

Nah, I was just making a lame Thunderdome reference.
