They're easy enough to upload to my own website, but I shudder to think how far back I may have to go to re-upload. It's just at your work right? |

Features Françoise Barrière's - Cordes-Ci, Cordes-Ça for harpsichord, violin, and
what the cover states incorrectly as a "vielle." It's actually a vielle à roue which is a different instrument by quite a bit. Back in 1982, yours truly was commissioned to write the first piece of modern music specifically for the vielle à roue (generally referred to as the "hurdy-gurdy"). After publication, it was performed worldwide - as far away as Ouagadougou. Premier moment of Cordes-Ci, Cordes-Ça is below. |

Roman a Clef - Abandonware (2015) Great sophisti-pop / New Romantic throwback, with some shoegaze influences that occasionally cross paths with more contemporary touches in the songwriting. Pretty sublime for what it is. Thank You Scientist - Stranger Heads Prevail (2016) Curious blend of stuff. Early 00's alternative rock, math rock, some post-hardcore elements and a funky horn section fronted by a guy who sounds a lot like the dude from Coheed & Cambria. Not for everyone, but legitimately progressive foh sho.

Ordered these three CDs
Happy Rhodes - Building the Colossus Seems her older albums got some reprints not too long ago, which is good because... not the easiest music to find. I haven't heard anything from this album yet... in fact I'm just barely starting to explore her music. I just fell so hard for the first track on her new album that I couldn't resist. Plus this album cover is all kinds of awesome. Anneke Van Giersbergen - Drive Digging her poppiest album of the ones I got last (see above/a couple pages back), so I'm hoping this will be good too, since it's supposed to be more or less a pop record. Barbara Morgenstern - bm Kinda turned into one of my favorite musical artists in a sneaky sort of way where I didn't quite realize it until recently. I think my usual go-to choices for a personal top 10 are mostly wrong and would have to be reconsidered after a good year of finding so much amazing music. And better yet; it just keeps on coming! |
