It gets better every year. Too many to see, so you have to choose carefully
(tho you do see people leaving in the middle so they can catch another concert). Plus, the performers hang out in the heart of the arts district, so you get a chance to see them out and about. Last year, my wife and I had breakfast with Carla Bley and Steve Swallow at "Pete's" and one night, dinner with Philip Jeck at "Tomato Head." |

I wonder how sweet that VIP pass is.

Don't know - too much money methinks.
Lower tier has always worked fine for us. In settings where you're seated, we've always gotten the seats we want which is usually a quarter of the way from the stages and near the middle. The stand-up shows (in clubs, for instance) seem to be pretty much the same kind of thing: you go in and wander to a place and stand or in the case of some concerts (Musica Elettronica Viva), you lie down wherever... This year we're going for the second tier to see if it really makes a difference because it's getting pretty popular (and after what I've had to deal with this last year, I'm worth it). |

Mixed from the original tapes and good to see this out again.
Various CD versions since the original Phillips LP had problems of sample rates and shortened times, but this seems to have taken care of that issue. The digital version is presented with 9 tracks for some reason. Anyway, a wonderful piece coming from that amazing festival in Shiraz from 1971. Reading about the events there in ARTS Magazine back then gave me goosebumps. |

"Russell Gunn’s recording “The Sirius Mystery” is a progressive, dynamic and
compelling four part master work, genre bending musical odyssey blending “Jazz”, EDM, American Trap, African Drums, Dub Step and Charlie Parker improvisation in a four movement suite that is inspired by and based on the Mythology of the mysterious Dogon Tribe of Mali." |
