High on Fire - Snakes for the Divine I wasn't even aware they had a new album out till yesterday. I'm still trying to decide if it's as good as Surrounded by Thieves. |

Peeping Tom - Peeping Tom (2006) A pop-rock/trip-hop musical project by Mike Patton; wonderfully reminiscent of early Faith No More or Mr. Bungle circa California while still trying out all sorts of awesome things. Features collaborations with Massive Attack, Norah Jones, Amon Tobin, Dan The Automator and numerous others. http://www.sagebaum.de/music_zone/co...es/0000224.jpg Discipline - Push and Profit (1993) Alt. rock meets progressive rock in on this 90's classic, featuring some of the best bass/drum interplay this side of Jupiter. Nice vocals too. Took me forever to find a good copy of this! http://rsindex.pictures-hosting.com/...e4_medium.jpeg The Q4 - Sound Surroundings (2010) Saw this intriguing jazz/trip-hopper mentioned a couple of times, so tracked it down for myself. Needless to say, it's full of hot gravy and beyond awesome. |
Most recejnt download... Scratch My Back by Peter Gabriel... God damn, this may only be a covers album but its ****ing amazing... it's stripped back, stark but ultimately warm sound (strings only with vocals) really find the hear and soul of the songs Gabriel is interpreting and they just feel so emotionally resonant...
I can tell I am going to absolutely love this album... |

Madlib's first release under his own name, the brief "Madlib Invazion EP" features a few rough beats with various Lootpack associates rhyming over them. Pretty decent stuff, copped it for a five spot. |

DARK FOREST - Aurora Borealis cd
Not anything spectacular or too groundbreaking but a solid first album by these Canadian Heathen metallers and about what I was expecting really. Definitely is worth a listen for those who enjoy Moonsorrow, Bathory, Summoning and the like. |

well hell i guess i should contribute something useful now...
http://img.noiset.com/images/album/i...over-1447.jpeg I Monster - These Are Our Children very odd electro-pop. a lot more mellow than their other two albums. i dig. http://i49.tinypic.com/2m82rsl.jpg Soul Coughing - Sugar Free Jazz (Single) it took me a very long time to find this one. it's better than i even imagined. love this track already, and the remixes are all excellent. http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/174s/12200811.jpg Costanza - ZerOKilled EP really, really, really good trip hop. she did vocals on Tricky's album Vulnerable. |

I'm typically not a fan of politically driven rap, but this is done in a more fun, non-threatening way that's not bad at all. I don't know if I could handle listening to it consistently, but maybe if there was an instrumental version... And I also got this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg A 2009 release from Ugly Duckling that I didn't even realize existed. |

If I post anything in here I at least try to make an effort to say what I've heard about it or what I expect to hear in it.

This is the only Dillinger Escape Plan release I haven't heard yet, so I'm on it. I'm planning to revisit every DEP release in preparation for Option Paralysis. |

Here's me, desperately yearning for your approval: http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/252/390487.jpg Moon D))) - Radiations of the Moon I've yet to listen to this album, but was stoked to find it on a fellow MBer's blog http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov...22886i3p9d.jpg The Capricorns - River, Bear Your Bones I just finished listen to this, and I absolutely love it. It was heavier than I thought. It's instrumental post-rock. A bit similar to Tides, if you've ever heard of them. If you'd like a listen, hit me up. |

But it only works if you have any interest in the tastes of your fellow MB members. For instance, I know that if sidewinder posts only an album cover then I may want to check out the album based on the fact that, based on past MB experience, I already know that there is a good chance I will like it. However, in the case of you, noise, I have clicked on so many video links that you have posted along with a stellar write-up that I now know that I will be extremely bored in about 30 seconds if I do that again (you make it sound so good but I just don't like the neo-classical female vocals thing) so I won't - let alone seek out an album. So there's two examples (posts by you and sidewinder) in which only an album cover, title, and band name would be sufficient for me to decide whether to pay attention to any text or links. oh, and to contribute: I recently got Plastic Beach by Gorillaz. It's a new album by a well-known artist and I don't really like it at all. |

It just sounds a lot more lackluster than anything previous. I can't pinpoint it yet but it seems like the Gorillaz experiment simply failed this time - in several ways. Albarn tries to rap at one point and it's kind of embarrassing. They even got Lou Reed to guest but I'd rather just hear a new Lou Reed song because the production on Plastic Beach doesn't do much for him. In fact, it doesn't help that Gorillaz have relaxed into a kind of semi-bouncy signature sound with a lot of very similar melodies on this album. When they do break out of that they end up sounding vaguely like a pale version of Blur. That's my initial take anyway. And just so you know where I'm coming from - I like both of their previous albums quite a bit. |
