CD/Vinyl comes out March 23, but I pre-ordered about a month ago and Bleep just released the official downloads today. YAY! 320kbps and 16-bit WAVs (24-bit available too). You can only get them if you've pre-ordered though, for now.

Torche - Meanderthal

A very good stoner rock album with pop-rock elements to pull me out of the indie hole I found myself stranded in last week.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are a group that has seen so much diversity and change through their career, so i would think a best of cd for them would be quite difficult to do well, how does this one measure up?

Nice compilation, I have that as well. I prefer the albums separately as a whole though.

Indeed, a good collection there (you'll get sick of 'The Ship Song' though!)

My fav badseeds album is actually No More Shall We Part, of the older albums probably Your Funeral My Trial

"Fifteen Feet Of Pure White Snow" is incredible. I think I like Tender Prey the best... but I'm a sucker for The Murder Ballads all the time.

Husky - Czy słyszysz?

i really hate it when last.fm recommends something that sounds really great, but it's so obscure that it takes me hours to find it.

such is the case here.

Polish downtempo. pure aural sex.

it took a while. i had to register at 3 Polish forums to find live links. thank god for Google Translate. but i finally tracked it down, along with their second album Zgadnij.

anyway let me know if you want to hear more :D

Hi, I really like it :D
It's so refreshing to see here another language than only english ;) Polish is sooo soft and beautiful. Little bit similar to czech, I understand some words but I can't read their alphabet.
Where to find this music? If you can help me, please, write me private message :) Thanks.

Luke Doucet - Blood's Too Rich

I actually downloaded this on a whim because he is signed to Six Shooter Records (same label as Elliott BROOD) and so far I'm enjoying it. It is a kind of bitter sweet album, has a good cover of "The Love Cats". I will certainly look up some of his previous band's stuff just out of curiosity.

Veal - The Embattled Hearts

Indie-rock band from Vancouver that I wasn't even aware of until yesterday after I listened to that Luke Doucet album. It was a pretty decent album, a little bland in a few parts, but overall it was catchy and not a complete rip off of other bands.

Band of Horses - Cease To Begin

I was a little surprised because as I was going through the pictures of this band I saw that they were actually out drinking! I'm not sure why I see that as mentionable, but there you go. Overall the sound is a little softer then I was expecting, but it's not bad.

That's a really good album, it has a nice easy-going feel to it. Their first album Everything All The Time is slightly better though.

sidewinder 02-24-2010 11:17 AM

I like both Band of Horses albums equally, both pretty darn good.

Toto - Falling In Between (2006)

A group that I never thought had much in them to begin with after 1979's Hydra managed to cut one hell of a nice rock album right before disbanding. Catchy, tight as balls instrumentally and lyrically well written...what more could you ask for?

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SP1VcJ50Ep...0/s320/000.jpg
Closure In Moscow - First Temple (2009)

Like Coheed & Cambria except more chaotic, less high-register vocals and punchier bass. In other words, pop-prog.-punk done right.

Tears For Fears - The Seeds Of Love (1989)

Best pop band of the 80's pulls a Sgt. Peppers of their own, kicking arse and taking names with it's mastery of all things hook, melody line and late 60's idealism.

My new favourite member :)

Death are one of those special bands that you see once in an era. I dig them like you cannot believe.

Symbolic is a good place to start in my mind as it contains some of their best work. i.e. Chrystal Mountain, Zero Tolerance and Perennial Quest.

If you need any of Death's stuff(demo's included, give me a shout)

I listened it for the first time... not bad, I would say I almost like it. Just need more time for it.

Social Distortion - Mommy's Little Monster

Had both of these on CD but sold them in my move last year. Unfortunately because i ripped them as WMV files I can't convert them to MP3's for my Zune so I had to download them, to make matters even better they're both ****ing m4a files so I have to convert them, enter in the information manually, then move them to my goddamn Zune.

Shake 02-25-2010 10:56 AM

^^ I love, Social Distortion :) Don't own Mommy's Little Monster though, I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Mike Ness's solo stuff was pretty good too, his cover of Dylan especially!
