CunninLynguists - Rose Azura Njano I was kind of hoping they'd just release Njano as an EP for those of us who have already bought the Rose and Azura EP's, that way we don't have to repurchase half the songs, but whatevs, it's more CunninLynguists and that's always a good thing. I do find myself enjoying the songs off the Rose and Azura EP's a bit more now that I can hear the whole album, and it definitely does remind me a lot of Dirty Acres era CunninLynguists, which given the state of the US right now makes a lot of sense. Overall it's a good piece of work, but I do think it kind of fits in this middle category for the group. It feels like a mix of a typical studio CunninLynguists album and one of their Strange Journey mixtapes that fill the space between studio releases. Still, if you enjoy the group, there's a lot to like here. |

They've sprung from the rubble that was Expo '86, and made a proper comeback. Pleasantly surprised. Now on to Liam Gallagher's new solo record...

Got a whole bunch of albums for my birthday yesterday. It's going to be great exploring it all during this week. I haven't heard any of the albums before, and some of the artists I'm not even all that familiar with at all.

Listening to My Squelchy Life by Brian Eno and it is a pleasant surprise. Knowing next to nothing about the album it strikes me as a kind of reimagined Tiger Mountain where he has fleshed out some of those earlier ideas into something uniquely pop.

Wonder what David Sylvian is up to these days? Wait, here's an album from 2014. Damn why do they only have one track? Wait, it goes for over an hour with semi improv ambience over spoken word. Aww yeah.

**** yes, that's one of my all time favourite records. The poetry is absolutely brilliant.
