Aguirre by Popol Vuh

a supremely frustrating album in that it shifts between being magnificent and bad. its their discography in album form in that regard. the "passable" Popol Vuh albums are the ones that are guitar-heavy and surprise surprise those are the parts of this album that I really dislike. if they dropped the two alternate Einsjager tracks this would be sublime. The "Aguirre" tracks are gorgeous and the last track sounds like it could be a part of In den Garten Pharoas (fuck ya). But blech, the bad parts really bring this down. I guess that's what the skip button is for :\

meandering guitar is just not my thing unfortunately

Charly Bliss - Guppy (2017)
Seriously, this sounds like The Chipmunks paying homage to 90's power pop. Once you get past the vocals they have some decent enough tunes. But it all feels very derivative.

Yo La Tengo | And Then Nothing Turned Itself Out

This and Broadcast's first two records, to me, have such incredible production. This records beautiful. Front to back. Some dude named Roger Moutenot is the producer, def finding out more about the records he's worked on. I've never been a fan of Yo La Tengo, but I was wrong. Forgive me, God. If you at all fancy dream pop, shoegaze, indie rock give this record a fucking listen.

You are forgiven.

White Suns - Psychic Drift

Two albums I've been really excited to listen to that I didn't know came out today.

Weak followup to Fetish Bones. Hardwire is a great song, but the rest of the album is pretty uninteresting.

No one advised me that White Suns dropped a record I had no clue about? Fuck you all. Now I'm gonna go listen to it good day.
