Pleasantly surprised by this. It’s their 50th album and there’s been as many
people who’ve come and gone thru this band. To steal a phrase:
Dave Brock and yer granny on bongos: it’s still Hawkwind.

Even tho he’s moved to a farm and there are some pastoral-like titles,
it’s only a light sprinkling of messaging over trippy electronics (“Ascent”)
that bring it down out of the stratosphere to refuel (even tho it's called "Ascent").

All the musical and lyrical hooks are still there (“Have You Seen Them?”)
and it, surprisingly, hasn’t devolved into a parody of itself. Still weird surprises
happen (which is good, methinks); like “Space Ship Blues” which is kinda like
Silver Machine" done as a hoedown(?!) - banjo!?! - but it works!

No tracks were on YouTube, so I put the three I mentioned up there for you.

At the Drive-In - in•ter a•li•a (2017)
I felt weary at the thought of listening to a new ATD-I album. Thankfully this album is quite good. Relationship of Command it certainly is not, but I could rank this on par with In/Casino/Out.

Feist - Pleasure (2017)
The jury is still out on this one. It feels like her most stripped-back and intimate album so far, and I could very well grow to love it.

World's End Girlfriend - The Lie Lay Land (2005)
Some post-rock/ambient/modern classical/electronic genre bending from Japan. At nearly 80 minutes this album is a lot to digest. But there is enough to warrant another listen.

A Storm of Light / Nadja - Primitive North (2009)
A really cool split album that I'm giving a listen at the moment. A Storm of Light's dirgey post-metal has already made this an intriguing listen. But Nadja's droning fuzzy goodness is hitting the spot nicely.

Picked up an old favourite yesterday.

The first play on vinyl is like hearing it for the first time.

Thought I'd stop lurking and share some music.

Jenova 7 - The Sound of Sector 7

Great trip-hop/instruemental hip-hop album. Jenova 7 was pretty influential with future trip-hop artists which I'm delving into right now. Bombastic beats, jazzy, funky, cenamatic and a little raw at times. I recommend this for anyone into the genre.

Good to cruise around with in your rides too.

One of their catchy chill tracks.

Hey Batty! Nice to see you still raiding MB. Metal leg is tip top.

The Internet - Ego Death

Ain't any extraordinary hip/hop or nothing but this album makes me feel so... lesbian. Can't help but dig it.

Howdy Rjinn.

Ego Death is so good.

I was surprised by it when I first heard it because I had no idea who they were until I looked it up.
