Ulver - The Assassination of Julius Caesar (2017) Easily their poppiest album, making full use of '80's bass guitar beats and synth pop music. It also happens to be one of their best albums. |

Mythos by Barry Cleveland I prefer my new age to be synth rather guitar centric but this is alright. the cimbalom is very nice and probably is my favorite part here. the album can get very near corn level in parts but in a quaint sort of way. an "everythings swell" type of music |

In a similar vein, picked up physical copies of these beauties recently. http://cps-static.rovicorp.com/3/JPG...0001760323.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N85XgMf6Nw...edeman+500.jpg |

Planning for Burial - Below the House (2017) Droney experimental rock with a slight touch of metal. It's not a bad album, it has a bleak atmosphere reminiscent of Have a Nice Life, and some interesting guitar textures. But a bit more variety would have been welcome. https://i1.sndcdn.com/artworks-00019...x-t500x500.jpg The Courtneys - II (2017) Their first album was a catchy and fun albeit somewhat unoriginal slice of indie rock. The sun-kissed summer vibe is still evident here, but it's really just a case of more of the same only not as good. https://lastfm-img2.akamaized.net/i/...bc5acb15a4d396 Ivy - Long Distance (2000) This album has some good songs but suffers from being longer than it should be. Actually this sounds a bit dated too. That post-trip hop indie pop sound hasn't aged particularly well, and this album sounds very 2000. Perhaps sounding a little too pleasant at times as well. http://www.metal-archives.com/images...95546.jpg?3310 Conan - Blood Eagle (2014) This album is seriously heavy as fuck. I can applaud them on that much. But beyond this it just seems to lack something that makes me want to come back for more. To me they are an example of a band with an amazing sound, but not having the compositions to really do it justice. Maybe they need more drugs. |

I know I promised myself to stop buying rare and limited edition vinyl titles to adjust to my new career and budget... but man... I just couldn't say no to this.
Music On Vinyl's 3LP set of 180g silver vinyl discs comprising the complete Soothing Sounds for Baby series by Ramond Scott, originally issued in the early 1960s. Limited to just 1000 copies, each disc is packed with bizarre, ambient chill early electronic music. I'd always wished I could track down these rare originals, but to have all three in a deluxe edition at this low price... I had to pull the trigger. Don't judge me. http://i.imgur.com/BaQzLi8l.jpg |
