Oh hell yeah. Justin Broadrick (Jesu, Godflesh etc) delivers his finest album for a couple of years with a sound that's like Godflesh being forced through a leper and shat out. It's a good thing though. This is back to the noise and drone that he does best. ( I may have to do a beginners thread to his music sometime).

Ooh. I hadn't heard about this! Do you have a link by any chance?

lucifer_sam 02-02-2010 10:46 PM

I'd be interested in that as well. I've got all the Jesu and Godflesh releases so far, Conqueror seems difficult to top.

My latest buy

I came across an old fashioned blues album on itunes called nuff is enuff by a Britisher Dave Wagstaff - i bought it immediately. Loved the lyrics - could relate to them. The recording quality isnt very great - which made it sound like old 1950's records. I think that was done deliberately.

Love the album... one of the songs from this album - Whats in a woman - is a favorite now

Res - Black.Girls.Rock!

Yeah, so I didn't even know she had another album out, and supposedly it came out in 2008. :\ This is only her second album, the first of which came out in 2001 (How I Do). Gotta say, this newer one is really a let down. I absolutely loved the first album and this one just seems kinda bland in comparison. Not happy.

scottsy 02-03-2010 08:08 PM

Ah, what a bummer... you just gotta hate it when someone whose work you previously loved comes out with spmething disappointing, that truly sucks.

^ Not really branching out, but getting the odd album by the old favourites that I should have got a long time ago. Dusk there is the followup to the amazingly amazing Mind Bomb, recorded by the same lineup too, so I'm really looking forward to giving that a go in particular.

Picked up that last one cause it was cheap and after seeing this quote on the listing page:

"A compelling and interesting mix of postmodern breaks and year 3000 soul - a truly fresh push away from the standard issue drum and bass mashup." - Dieselboy

Dieselboy 02-05-2010 08:35 PM

Also got these two on cd...the first after hearing a song by them on the MB Feb Compilation:

Two Lone Swordsmen - From the Double Gone Chapel

Ziad Rahbani - Monodose

Oceansize - Effloresce (2003)

Amazing debut album from one of the most underrated groups to emerge in the 2000's, blending post-rock and Pink Floyd space-prog. with more contemporary influences (Radiohead and At The Drive-In come to mind immediately). I've had their other stuff for a long time now, but this debut is certainly a standout even compared to their later albums!

http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/2245/littledrag.png
Little Dragon - S/T (2007)

A popular electronic/downtempo album around MB these days with a distinctive and wonderful jazzy bent. Hence, due to the popularity, I decided to one-up some of the peeps here and get the Special Japanese Edition with bonus tracks. xD

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jUBSLyJJuc...or+(front).jpg
Brand X - Unorthodox Behavior (1976)

Phil Collins does some kickarse jazz-fusion with other people, and much to my delight these tracks here gel and sizzle and even sometimes chop off a few heads in the course of their groove-building. Wonderful wonderful wonderful!

This is one of the albums released as a fake of the upcoming Autechre album Oversteps. They fessed up and released their official album under their name with their own track names yesterday. It's free from their netlabel. Pretty good mostly. I purposely haven't listened to any of the Autechre leaks, knowing that some were fakes but also not wanting to spoil the surprise of the real album, and I'm not sure how I would have reacted if I were listening to this thinking it was in fact Autechre. It's certainly similar, but I think I may have had my doubts. Or perhaps it's all the fanboy confusion that would have planted the doubts in my mind, who knows. But this is good.

Undoubtedly, hundreds of people out there have listened to this thinking it's the new Autechre...having no idea it was a fake leak, and still not knowing.
