Prince - Moonbeam Levels

Not an album, a track from a recently released compilation CD called 4ever.

Its fantastic. I'm glad it finally got a proper release.

Ariel Pink - Pom Pom

Picked this up at Goof's behest. Some excellent stuff on here, as well as some stupid bull****. If a 2 minute song about jello thinks it's not getting deleted off a 70 minute album, it's in for a serious wake up call. Unfortunately, some of the stupid bull**** occurs within tracks that contain brilliant songwriting, so I can't exactly make my own master cut. Oh well. Not Enough Violence and Dayzed Inn Daydreams are ****ing amazing songs though.

Definitely some random weirdness. I discovered Ariel Pink listening to Bret Easton Ellis's podcast and thought I'd check out some of his work, so I got stoned and played this album. In some parts I got kind of an old-school Bowie vibe with a psychedelic feel, but with quite a few WTF moments as well.

I came to the end of PtH's brief discography and found the best in that. Definitely my favorite of the four. This one was just a perfect symbiosis of everything that I was already loving, and executed to the maximum level of awesomeness. The guitar here, good god, is beastly and at a perfect level to make out every single riff, and they are all incredible, amazingly precise and technical, and all the while very catchy and memorable. My favorite vocal performance too. This is gonna be a fav

I love this album, actually, but I can't stand his Haunted Graffiti stuff. Not only is it too lo-fi of hynagogic pop, the albums go on in said manner too long. Pom Pom is just right, one might say, a more mainstream offering.

I have yet to hear any of his stuff that I find less than irritating, including the Umbrellas in the Pink Parade song. Ugh.

I'm usually forgiving with less accessible music, but Ariel Pink is someone I've tried hard enough to like. I actually get irritated just thinking about him.

I may have to give that album a listen.

Dark Dark Dark - Wild Go (2010)

This is like Regina Spektor meets Yann Tiersen in Amelie. I like it. It's charming.
