The production/beats is what really roped me into Flatbush Zombies to begin with but what kept me there was the growly type flow that Meechy has. Better Off Dead was my favorite mixtape of theirs and I know some people prefer D.R.U.G.S. but it's the opposite for me. This official release feels like a mixture of the two but it also seems like they are trying to mature a wee bit in terms of lyrics. They toss out a few socially conscious type bars in the closing track but not enough to be of any significance.

@djchameleon
Thanks for the explanation. See, for me, I kinda hate rap. But not completely. If the rap is done to my liking (that doesn't mean it has to be done well, just that I like it), then I like it. I like Deltron 3030, Lil Dicky, Aesop Rock (but only with The Uncluded), Outkast, and early Black Eyed Peas (Back to the Front and Bridging the Gap -- everything else sucks, in my opinion). I listened to TPAB while intensely working on a hand-drawn fantasy map for my gaming group. It was an intense experience, and I could see the value of the album, but it's just not my thing. Most hip-hop is an eyerolling experience for me, because I hate hate hate when black people use the word nigger. I ****ing hate it. So, I hope Flatbush Zombies will fit in with what I like. |

Have you heard Bestiary by Hail Mary Mallon? Pretty great nonthreatening Aesop Rock album.

I listened to, like, seven Aesop Rock albums trying my best to like him. I just couldn't.
And for the record, people can say whatever they want. I'm not looking to censor anyone. It's just why I don't like most hip-hop. Last edited by Zhanteimi; 04-30-2016 at 09:52 AM. |

I recommend watching some Boondocks to overcome that and laugh your ass off in the process.
Here's a cut from Hail Mary Mallon, it's not just Ace but it has Rob Sonic as well.

My favourite hip-hop release of the year so far, some killer stuff.
