Is it any good? Which Jourgensen projects would you compare it to?

Vestiges by Max Corbacho

well it's hot as sin here, so time to plug some desert ambient. I don't have Western Spaces or Desert Solitaire on hand at the moment, which is unfortunate, but this will do. Corbacho has some pristine works in his repertoire, but this may just be my favorite. Keep hydrated today kids.

Good pick. Corbacho is definitely one of the masters. Not a bad record in his whole discography really, though I'm particularly fond of his Lost Links compilation (which has 'One True Light', his best composition ever)

https://superfirecords.bandcamp.com/album/makyo-2xlp

Birushanah - Makyo
Super heavy, brutal sludge doom that incorporates traditional folk music from their home of Japan.

https://revrevrev.bandcamp.com/

rev rev rev - Des fleurs magiques bourdonnaient
A spacey and mellow meeting of dream pop and krauty psychedelia.

https://ustalost.bandcamp.com/

Ustalost - The Spoor of Vipers
Psychedelic and hypnotic black metal with fantastic riffs and melodies.

https://profoundlorerecords.bandcamp...m/slow-forever

Cobalt - Slow Forever
The newest release from in my opinion, one of the top metal acts of today, and surely one of the most original. Gin was a masterpiece, but even that doesn't touch this, their best yet. Like Gin, but expanded upon in almost all aspects.

https://tegucigalpan.bandcamp.com/releases
Tegucigalpan - The Fifth of She
Trippy psych rock, a little bit heavy too, with a darkwave approach.

https://stonehillrecords.bandcamp.com/album/lightforger

Black Spring Monolith - Lightforger

Some kind of post industrial avant-doom metal, and it rarely gets huger than this.

https://pogavranjenband.bandcamp.com/

Pogavranjen - Jedva Čekam Da Nikad Ne Umrem

Apparently I was hopping on a bandwagon I didn't even know existed when I made my blackened krautmetal album. Oh well, here it is done by pros. Very hypnotic drum patterns and riffs in a black metal t-shirt.

https://colloquialsoundrecordings.ba...um/rubber-room

Aksumite - Rubber Room

This band generally played a raw black metal and punk hybrid which was very catchy, but here the sound is polished up and post-hardcore/punk influences are showcased much more than before. Still great and catchy.

https://vaultsofzin.bandcamp.com/
Vaults of Zin - Kadath

An early AOTY contender here, a fusion of doom metal/post-metal and zeuhl. If you don't wanna listen to it then you have some kind of problem.

https://penseesnocturnes.bandcamp.co...re-et-a-manger

Pensées Nocturnes - À Boire Et À Manger

This is even weirder than they typically are. Here is some dissonant, experimental black metal that includes cabaret and circus type music.

https://phyllomedusa.bandcamp.com/al...ngs-in-january

Phyllomedusa - Sightings in January

This project is more or less an incredibly whack and not often cool cyber/goregrind/frognoise (I didn't make it up, some kind of amphibious noise grind thing, all about frogs and whatever) output, but this new album is awesome. I guess it still has those sounds, but it's more on the black metal/shoegaze side, very experimental and thick.

https://cashewcats.bandcamp.com/albu...-in-super-nova
CashewCats - Alice in Supernova

This is absolutely infectious. It's like spazzy j-pop/breakcore/chiptune/some japanese folk.

https://camelofdoom.bandcamp.com/album/terrestrial
Camel of Doom - Terrestrial

An enormous offering of psychedelic and progressive stoner metal, with it's fair share of death/doom influences.

https://absenceofjoy.bandcamp.com/al...e-in-existence

Absence of Joy - No Pleasure In Existence

If you enjoy depressive sounding black metal riffs and thick drones, then here's this. Atmospheric drone/black metal.

I don't know if I can think of a recent year that has offered so much incredible music this early in. Just from albums I've heard up until now, I can boldly say it's been the best year for music in the 2010's. And there's still more than half left.
