Jack Name - Weird Moons (2015)
Neo-psych stuff I guess. Clocks in under 30 minutes so I played it twice the other day, then I determined that despite a few interesting tracks, it wasn't worth my time as a whole.

Cherubs - 2 Ynfynyty (2015)
Never heard this band before, oddly even after spending 14 years in Texas. I think I found out about them here. Anyway, first listen was good.

The Soft Moon - Deeper (2015)
Liking this one more than the debut. Never heard the second one. Some songs bordering on synthpop.

Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell (2015)
Streamed this one on Tuesday and later bought the clear vinyl edition the same day (mostly because my girlfriend really likes him). Heard it three times so far, pretty good stuff indeed.

And some other vinyl purchases Tuesday that I don't feel like digging up artwork for:

Simon & Garfunkel - Wednesday Morning, 3 AM (1964)
The Rolling Stones - Out of Our Heads (1965)
The Rolling Stones - Aftermath (1966)
The Rolling Stones - Between the Buttons [mono] (1967)
The Byrds - Sweetheart of the Rodeo (1968)
Giles, Giles & Fripp - The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles and Fripp (1968)
The Growlers - Are You in or Out? (2009)
Sonny and the Sunsets - Longtime Companion [yellow vinyl] (2012)
Girls Names - The New Life (2013)

I feel like Vasquez should have worked more on his lyrics a bit more since he didn't work as much on the textures/atmosphere like he did with the previous Soft Moon albums. They're just really cringey sometimes, same problem with APTBS last few albums... terrible, awful lyrics.

Love Life "Be Kind to Me/Hex It Out"

Math Rock that I picked up on a whim because of the fact that I saw this and the next record for obscenely cheap on Three.One.G. It's pretty decent, and it's shaped like a heart! <3

Z's "The Hard EP"

I have "New Slaves" and I saw this for like 5 bucks, so I figured "Why not, I like Z's, and it's a good cheap record?"

How exactly does that spin without the needle spinning it in a circle?

I assume it's played as a single with a bit of extra vinyl on the outside to create a heart.

Nah, all shaped records require a bit of extra vinyl to make the shape around the grooved portion. It's a 10" record, but without the shaping around the grooved part it would be a 7".

Lyrics aren't the most important thing to me in music - sometimes I notice them, sometimes I don't. When I do notice, it can improve the experience or diminish it. Here, I hadn't particularly noticed. It's not the kind of music where I expect to actually like the lyrics.

It's more so the fact that they're so much more up front this time around compared to the shouts and screams he's done on the past two albums. If vocals are going to be more noticeable, and the lyrics clear, make them good or don't do it at all.

A Forest of Stars - Beware the Sword You Cannot See

Mondo wasn't just talking out of his ass on this one like he does when he raves about that Wolves and Sheeps band or Jesus's Carpentry, this is an incredible metal album.
