Melechech - Enki (2015)

It's been 5 years since their last album so I'm really looking forward to giving this a go. Mesopotamian metal!

Brotzmann takes sax players and throws them on clarinets. It's got John Zorn, E.L. Petrowsky and a bunch of other people I don't recognize. It also has William Parker on bass, Tony Oxley on drums, and Toshinori Kondo on trumpet. This is some really great and intense European (mostly) free jazz.
I'll really have to give this a spin! Right now I'm listening to:

Clear Horizon - s/t

I'd already given it my ear once. Based on the post search for the album I did here, I guess I'm pretty late to the party, but I'm always late, so whatever.
It's definitely the kind of album I feel better about putting on in the background and slowly absorbing it via osmosis rather than actively trying to scrutinize it. I just don't think it's made to be experienced that way. As an atmospheric album, it also feels kind of... "right" for the bitter cold winter.

Cocksure - TVMALSV

this album is like walking straight into my past with a pocket full of cocaine and an urge to dance the night away....Chris Connelly (Ministry,Revolting Cocks) teams up with industrial dj Jason Novak and basically re-create the glory days of Wax trax style industrial dance music while keeping to their own and creating something that stands out.....the music is full of fury while still being fun and groovy as all hell...the lyrics touch a bit on the political (maybe Chris is finally old enough to be political) while still keeping to that wonderful sense of humor that made Connelly such an important figure in my youth

Sadly, I wasn't quick enough with the trigger finger. The new limited edition Red House Painters 6LP bronze-vinyl box set is SOLD OUT.

The killer is that the set was only $112 + free shipping for all four of their first albums, but if you tried to chase down any of the LPs individually you're looking at $250-$375 apiece.

Damn it.

Are you a Low fan, Overcast? They do really seem like your thing but I don't think I've ever heard you mention them before.

I post Low every once in awhile, and they're definitely one of my favorite bands at this point. They're the reason I decided to explore Slowcore. Love 'em.

(Wait, were you making a joke referencing my signature?... I blame my tiredness if so.)
