Real Estate - Atlas (2014)
I've gotten to like this more and more as the year goes on. It seemed boring and pedestrian at first, and while it's still subtle and basically soft rock, most of the songs are really good. I don't really like the instrumental "April's Song", though. Overall it's still missing a little something to push it into 4-star territory, but it's a good album.

Viet Cong - Viet Cong (2014)
For the second time. I don't want to play it non-stop so I don't get sick of it or something, especially since I had already played two of the tracks a lot before hearing the whole thing.

Parquet Courts - Sunbathing Animal (2014)
I haven't enjoyed this as much as I was hoping I would. It's more creative/artsy than their last, but lacking in some way. Maybe it's inconsistency, sequencing, lacking in truly great songs, too many annoyances, I don't know. Some songs are too long, even my favorites such as "Instant Disassembly". Maybe it's something I'll end up liking more over time. But I wanted to like this more.

Faux Fur - Faux Fur (2013)
Another Women-related project from Calgary, this one sounding much more like Women than Viet Cong does - as it's more pop-oriented while retaining the vocal and guitar styles of Women. Like an album's worth of Women's most accessible songs, but with a bit a more care-free energy. The album cover is more bleak than the music.

The People's Temple - Musical Garden (2014)
I've played this quite a bit since I first heard it the week of Christmas. Nice garage/psych rock.

MONO & World's End Girlfriend - Palmless Prayer/ Mass Murder Refrain
I really liked the song Mondo Bungle posted in some thread, so checking out what seems to be the band's most critically acclaimed album. Pretty excited, exactly what I've been looking for lately.

Dirty Three - Whatever You Love, You Are
I love Ocean Songs and Horse Stories, and a good deal of Mick Turner's solo stuff. Why the **** has it taken me so long to get into this?

Tryptykon - Melana Chasmata
Catching up with last year's big doom releases.

I've not! Really think I need to go full discography because the one I just got seems outstanding as well. Great band!

cant remember if ive already told this before here but on my flight to Australia a couple years ago I listened to nothing but Dirty Three albums. they were just the perfect band for that flight and im not really sure why. listened to Horse Stories something like 5 or 6 times. 17 hour (or whatever it was) flight went super quick. cant say enough good things about the band

I tuned into the oldies station on a Frankfurt-TO flight. Still remember hearing Light My Fire, Locomotive Breath, and Bloody Well Right in a row. I also discovered the Eagles on the same flight.

Come to think of it, discovering four of my favourite bands in eight hours isn't too bad.

Ex Hex - Rips (2014)
Mary Timony is on my list of approved female singers. I'm not necessarily a loyal fan (she has an extensive back-catalog and I've only heard a few), but I generally like her voice and style. I've heard a few of these songs and the album seems to be doing quite well on year-end lists. I picked up on this when I first heard a few songs, but there's a very Cars-like sound to much of the album. From the guitars to the Ric Ocasek singing style, it's almost like a female-fronted version of The Cars.

Morgan Delt - Morgan Delt (2014)
I forgot this was a 2014 release until yesterday. Sounded messy when I first listened back in June, but it's grown on me.

Foxygen - ...And Star Power (2014)
Only my second listen. It's a lot to consume. The album is definitely not as overblown and self-indulgent as I feared it would be.

The People's Temple - Weekends Time (2014)
First listen. Hmm, so far I think Musical Garden is much more interesting of a record. Also I just learned from the label website that two of the nine tracks are Ariel Pink covers. :?

The Adicts - Songs of Praise (1981)
First listen earlier, at the gym. Good for running and pumping iron. Didn't impress me too much though, except one song in the second half that had a bit more of a post-punk sound.

Natural Snow Buildings - The Dance of the Moon and the Sun

One of the longest albums I've ever listened to. I liked/loved a good lot of the tracks, mainly the shorter ones. Expecting the long ones to click when I can give this a more focused listen.
