ok top 5 would look something like..

1. Want by Wreck and Reference (if one dares call an electronic album to be "metal" - I do. likely my aoty as well. I know youre familiar with them so you may have already heard this one.

2. Thirty Five Thoughts to Nineteen Elements by Wheels Within Wheels - I first heard of them through a split EP they did with Panopticon and thought they were pretty cool. But this is some next level **** and beats out Road to the North for the best Kentucky black metal album of the year. It's like blackgaze with balls maybe. Noisy and mechanical. Idk its just great.

3. Heathen by Thou love the vocals and I think that's a big reason for my love of this. doom is alive and well.

4. Alunar by Aureole "alien black metal" if there were such a thing

5. The Flesh Prevails by Fallujah takes everything disgusting that is death metal and mixes it with beauty. been one that ive been listening to a lot this month.

yeah subject to changes obvs but I think that's pretty accurate a list

Ja I listened to Want today, actually. Great album. I'll check the rest out, I've been hearing great things about Heathen.

What genre is it?

Various artists contributed to it, so I'm not sure. Sounds like psychedelic dream pop from space.

Very good indeed. I think it just became my metal album of the year (not counting Totem, but that's more noise rock). I would say mindblowingly good.

Damn man you were right, I'm listening to it right now and just wow great performances!

Sturgill Simpson, Metamodern Sounds of Country Music

I find that the older I get, the more and more I enjoy the music of my homeland- AKA, country music. Damn these Kentuckian roots. They get me to fall to stereotypes when I don't even want to.

That said, this particular country album is much more than the John Deere tractors, confederate flags, and whisky that color much of the genre. This dude is crooning about drug-induced cosmic philosophies and Gandhi, all while building up his more traditional twangy guitars with psychedelic sound effects and gentle strings. It's like all of the old time country stars moved to modern day Colorado and smoked a lot of weed. This is good ****. Will definitely be a repeat listen.

thanks <3

I misinterpreted this thread as albums that you listened to no matter how many songs. I'll only post full album listens for now on, sorry about that.

Revisited a secret love of mine that I for some reason have been neglecting:

Fink - Perfect Darkness
Fink - Biscuits for Breakfast
Fink - Distance and Time

My daily Elverum fanboyism:

Mount Eerie - Wind's Poem
The Microphones - The Glow, Pt. 2
The Microphones - Mount Eerie
Mount Eerie with Julie Doiron and Fred Squire - Lost Wisdom

Random misc stuff:

NSP Music Lab - Field Recordings in the Heliosphere
Various Artists - The Space Project

Sleep music:

Rain Sounds - Rain Sounds

Not done with my music listening for the night but I'll most likely just listen to the same old stuff anyway. I need to start listening to new music but I cant put down my current loves... bittersweet.

Liking the Crystal Castles. I need to do a more in depth listen of that Cloud Nothings album, I don't remember it very well.

I don't know why I've hesitated on checking out The Flaming Lips. Are they really that good? Also nice GY!BE and AJJ. I need to check out Wilco as well.
