Jandek - Ghost Passing

Started listening to this six hour classical influenced album from Jandek today. It's made up of guitar (or is that a violin?) and piano. For six hours. I like it quite a bit based off of the one track I've listened to, it's much better and less aimless than his 9 hour solo piano album Song of Morgan.

One of the most interesting labels out there today. Definitely beat out fellow NY label Captured Tracks on content, fer sure.

I have a bootleg CD of this show, as it was never officially released as an album. Nice to see it on video!

Could have a few tracks cut off, but this has a beautifully dreamy and surreal atmosphere.

Devin Townsend - (specifically Dark Matters)
Not as good as the first Ziltoid album IMO, but this still more than makes up for Epicloud. I'll give Sky Blue a listen later today.

Hahahah - I see now - You are much more qualified to make any assesments than I. I've only experienced Tokyo in small bites and then, only after filling my head with nonsense from too many crazy monster and Yakuza movies.

The first time I went there, I was fixated on going to Tower Records and filling up on all manner of weirdness and garage bands. Never did it occur to me that everything would be labeled in Kanji. My friends had a hearty laugh, but fortunately, after much gesturing and phonetics, a clerk understood that I was looking for Osaka bands and led me to a treasure trove of weird stuff.

Great city though. One of my favorites.

Started off the day with Pantera's Cowboys from Hell after binge-watching their 90's live sets last night.
First time I've heard some of these songs since I was 15 years old and just getting the hang of playing guitar. Very nostalgic.

CFH, Primal Concrete Sledge, Psycho Holiday, Heresy, Cemetery Gates, Domination, Message In Blood, Art of Shredding, amazing album.

Moving onto CCR's Bayou Country at lunch break.

Spinning this right now. Love this band and especially the timbre of the singer's voice.

Volume four has a cover of 'My Baby Shot Me Down' by Pharmakon and an unreleased David Lynch track....

That Pharmakon cover is absolute gold, along with all of Bestial Burden. Sacred Bones is doing really well this year. I think Cult of Youth's new album Final Days leaked earlier this week, a week ahead of scheduled release. I think I'm going to have to investigate later tonight.
