Continuing with some 2007 re-visiting for my 2007 top 10. These are not necessarily top 10 contenders, some are just items from my collection I feel like re-visiting no matter what.
http://rymimg.com/lk/f/l/d899313d110...91/4175217.jpg Radiohead - In Rainbows (2007) I like this quite a bit but sometimes it feels too sad. Couple of really excellent songs though, "15 Step" and "All I Need". http://rymimg.com/lk/f/l/93bab19de9c...4d/3098087.png Band of Horses - Cease to Begin (2007) I've never liked the opener of this album, "Is There a Ghost". I don't hate it, just don't like it. But I enjoy the rest as much as their debut. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...jL._SY300_.jpg Hot Cross - Risk Revival (2007) For a while this was my favorite album of 2007. I'm far less into screamo these days but I still enjoy it, since it's as much post-hardcore as screamo to me. Like At the Drive-In, for example. http://rymimg.com/lk/f/l/4abd330d535...8f/2755068.jpg Not Breathing - The Black Old Pueblo (2007) Wow, 7 years later and I'm still the only one that's rated this on RYM. At least it has a good rating as a result. IDM with electro-industrial tendencies, very good. http://rymimg.com/lk/f/l/3b93e15e2e1...d0/2114349.jpg Menomena - Friend and Foe (2007) First album I heard from them, back in 2007, but I like their latest album Moms best. http://rymimg.com/lk/f/l/18f577f3eef...61/2025655.jpg of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? (2007) That long song in the middle - "The Past Is a Grotesque Animal" - is such a drag and feels like an album closer. I otherwise like much of the album. http://rymimg.com/lk/f/l/28ee7fab274...f7/1878678.jpg Other Men - Wake Up Swimming (2007) Resurrection of Rob Crow's pre-Pinback band Heavy Vegetable. Sounds like a more upbeat, mathy Pinback without Zach Smith's great bass playing and backing vocals. Good stuff. |
^Hissing Fauna is one of my favorite albums of all time!

After all, what did that documentary say? "Either Of Montreal is your favorite band of all time or you've never heard of them before." |

Today was a day of jazz-rap and expiremental hip-hop for me I love it!!!
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=y4iejM77tHQ Clipping - Midcity Weird, expiremental hip-hop. Harsh white noise beats with great flow, a must hear for anyone into this kind of stuff. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iPtPo8Sa3NE Death Grips - Exmilitary I'm sure most people here have heard of Death Grips. This is another expiremental hip-hop group who have recently split up. Check out Exmilitary awesome mixtape. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=heGPdwJGo08 Tyler, The Creator - Bastard I can't say how much I love this alb enough every track for me is a classic, in the beats, lyrics, story, it all flows just so damn well. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5EtVJP0Dml4 MF DOOM - Operation: Doomsday The classic underground hip-hop album from famed rapper/producer Daniel Dumile (a.k.a MF DOOM). A definite listen. |
King Crimson - In The Wake of Poseidon
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...bum_Cover.jpeg I was listening to this on the bus ride home from work. Holy **** do I love this album. It's been a long time since I even attempted to listen to it, and even those attempts weren't a full listen of the album. It's damn good and i'm happy to say i'll be returning to this album very soon. |

My Dejà Vú tape arrived in the mail yesterday, took it on the highway this morning, absolutely beautiful as always.
The tape feels much bassier than versions I've heard in the past, lucky the cassette deck has a trusty bass slider. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Dejà Vú (1970) - Full Album - YouTube |

Iron Reagan - Tyranny of the Will remember when hardcore thrash crossover was cool? thats right it never stopped being cool great side project from the Municipal Waste front man....seriously fun mix of thrash metal with hardcore anthems....nothing like a vocalist starting off a video with a Slayer "Seasons in the Abyss" shirt and ending it with a Gorilla Biscuits "Hold Your Ground" shirt :) Spoiler for Piss off you parents!:
http://turfclub.net/wp-content/uploa...on-300x300.gif Hammerhead - Global Depression i don't understand why Hammerhead does not get more praise here....they are quintessential noise rock this is perfect. |
