Run the Jewels - RTJ2 (2014) Got the email from Jamie and Mike with the download link. It's pretty much what I expected, more of the same but maybe a little more raw and a little less Cancer 4 Cure / R.A.P. Music leftovers. I'm glad that they are working on this project as you can tell they both have a lot of fun with it and it will definitely be staying in the car for awhile. If you liked their first one then you're going to like this one as it's more of the same, and can you really expect anything more from a free album released a little over a year after the previous one, which was also released a year after both artists put out new albums? |

Yesterday:
Wilderness - Vessel States (2006) The weakest of the 3 albums, IMO, but still quite enjoyable. The Growlers - Are You In or Out? (2009) I put this on the office stereo because I was sick of The War on Drugs being on shuffle for the entire fucking day. I'm going to a meeting soon and won't hear it all, but I couldn't take hearing the same TWOD song for the 3rd time today, and that doesn't include times I may have missed it being on other floors. Plaid - 鉄コン筋クリート」_オリジナル・サウンドトラック (aka Tekkonkinkreet OST) (2006) The first of two fantastic soundtracks from the period after Strokes when everyone was waiting impatiently for their next studio album. Melvins - (A) Senile Animal (2006) One of my top 3 Melvins albums, along with Houdini and Stoner Witch. Purling Hiss - Weirdon (2014) Been enjoying this a lot. Beirut - Gulag Orkestar (2006) The Evens - Get Evens (2006) Not as good as their debut, and I may like their third better as well.

The Walker Brothers - After The Lights Go Out; The Best Of 1965-1967 (1990) I watched a Scott Walker documentary on Amazon and they sounded cool as hell. Instant download. Esplendor Geométrico - Desarrollos Geométricos (2011) Looked them up on RYM after posting in my journal. Didn't know they had a few newer releases.

Perfume Genius - Put Your Back N 2 It My new obsession as of a few days, also helping me get through these critical times I'm dealing with. Great record. Frank Ocean - Channel ORANGE Probably one of the most cohesive records I've ever listened too. Each track has such finesse quality in production and in Frank's lyrics and vocals. Quality record. Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Piñata Contender for best hip hop record of 2014, until Kanye drops his album soon.

Finished my first listen a few minutes ago. I enjoyed it I suppose, but I didn't feel too engaged, and nothing really blew me out of the water immediately. I'm honestly a little bit disappointed, but I've been waiting for this so long that it deserves the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it'll improve with time.
