Prefuse 73 - Surrounded by Silence (2005)
I always enjoyed this but it was definitely weaker than the previous two albums, and was more focused on the guest MCs than the production. Also, it's definitely longer than it should be. Still a great listen.

Foscil - Foscil (2005)
Instrumental hip-hop jazz-rock post-rock goodness. An incredible album by a very little-known band. So little-known, in fact, that me and two other dudes I introduced this to are the only ones on RYM that have rated it.

Shellac - Dude Incredible (2014)
The first Shellac album I've heard that I felt was too short.

Purling Hiss - Weirdon (2014)
Pretty good, seems more consistent than their last album, which I also enjoyed but had a few duds. Grungy indie garage out of Philly. I thought they were from the PNW, actually. Glad I checked before misinforming you.

Mumakil - Flies Will Starve. Really good death/grindcore. Don't know why I think it's so great, not anything new really, but still, above average grindcore imo.

Dandelion Junk Queens - No Amps, No Masters. They nail the street/jug/folk band sound like no other, one of my favorites.

Cloak of Altering - None. Electronica infused avant-black metal from world renowned mind rapist and tongue gnawer Mories.

Maggat - A Pacific Puzzle. The cover isn't all that eventful anyway. I'm probably gonna be listening to a lot of this kind of indie stuff this month and next.

Rapeman - Two Nuns and A Pack Mule. Albini be praised.

Two Lone Swordsmen - Tiny Reminders. Currently Nearing the end. When they do electronic music, they're one of my favorite artists of any style of it.

The Foscil album is excellent, lots of live instrumentation including horns.

I'm liking the new Shellac quite a bit. It's the first Shellac album I've heard that I felt was too short. I haven't heard The Futurist or Excellent Italian Greyhound, but of the others, maybe this is the most direct.

Only got through 16 of 24 tracks today on my first spin, so I'll have to wrap up tomorrow. Kind of a mess, but not as self-indulgent and glam as I was expecting. It'll definitely take a few listens to understand.
