krautrock is a pretty vague term, so a lot of bands that are labelled under that umbrella sound completely different.
In terms of bands that I would personally recommend: Can, Popol Vuh, Cluster, Ash Ra Tempel/Manuel Gottsching/Ashra, Faust, Neu!, Amon Duul II Most of those sound completely different from each other (but are all still great); Can and Faust are more "experimental", Popol Vuh is like spiritual ambient/new age, Amon Duul II has a lot of heavy psych, Cluster is more electronic, and so on. If youre looking for similar bands to those Scorpions albums, I'd suggest something like Golem, Eloy, Agitation Free or maybe Embryo (theyre jazzier tho). They seem to be more of the space prog rock style. woof. long post whoops. |

Zolle—s/t A side project of Morkobot which means there's also involvement from Ufomammut. This is just one guy playing some badass, meaty riffs on guitar and one guy playing some heavy drums, cowbell and marimba. That's it and it's fabulous. |

I haven't been downloading as much as normal lately as I'm revisiting so much from the past every week, compiling top 10 lists. On 2003 right now, and in the early 00s I was buying so much new music that there isn't much I didn't get around to then that I feel the need to explore now. So, aside from new releases, not much new is coming down my pipeline.
Thom Yorke - Tomorrow's Modern Boxes (2014) I got this last Friday like most people, and gave it a cursory listening in the evening while washing dishes and making dinner. Nothing jumped out, it sounded sort of like I expected to an extent. I listened to it again earlier this week, with headphones, and liked it a bit more. But still, compared to The Eraser it seems much more bland. Where The Eraser sounded connected to Radiohead's catalog, this is closer to Amok. I'll have to keep it in rotation to see how I feel about it, as it's difficult to say right now. Just doesn't seem like there's much to it. ∆ - This Is All Yours (2014) I loved their debut album when I first heard it, finding it very fresh in that year's musical landscape while at the same time reminding me a lot of Radiohead. I played it a lot and raved about it. Then I put it down and I don't think I ever went back to it. Why? I don't know. Still, I was excited when they announced the follow-up. And though I've had it a few weeks, I'm just now getting around to it. So far I like it, and appreciate that it's different from the debut and less hook-y. Maybe it'll have more staying power as a result.

I'm loving Tomorrow's Modern Boxes. It's ironic to me because two days before it went to BitTorrent, I'd lost all hope Mr. Yorke would make another solo record. My dream literally came true, it's great.
