Don't worry, Pitchfork will something else to masturbate to. The only thing I liked was their interview with James as it was so in depth. Otherwise, nope, stay away Pitchfork.

I hate you all for posting loads of music and making me choose which ones to download.

Myrkur by Myrkur

I had been pretty interested in this release since I heard about it. A one woman black metal band that combines "Ulver and Darkthrone with the natural sonic beauty of Sigur Ros". Yeah that sounds pretty alright to me (I tend to be more interested in bands that use Sigur Ros as a major influence than the original band itself for whatever reason). But I don't really hear Darkthrone here much, although Ulver, with some Drudkh in there as well, is fairly accurate. It's got that "folky" black metal feel, and mixed with these Julianna Barwick-esque vocals it's a wonderful experience. Good stuff here.

U2—Songs of Innocence
Like everyone else with an iTunes account, I got this album for free the other day as part of Apple's big media blitz thing. I finally got around to listening to some of it last night and it's exactly what I assumed it would be like. It's a perfectly listenable U2 album that is also completely forgettable. It's been over two decades since I had any interest in these guys and this album is a good example why. It's just so innocuous. It's a group of people doing the same job they've been doing for 35 years, a job they're so adept at that they can do it in their sleep. And this really sounds sounds like they're asleep.

You just know I'm going to end up reviewing this. ;)
As a matter of interest Jansz, did you like/listen to "All you can't leave behind"?

I own that one, but feel pretty much the same about it as I do about the new one. I think I've maybe listened to it a grand total of twice in the fourteen years that it's been sitting on my CD shelf.

Sounds neat. Will listen.

Dama/Libra - Claw

I'm going through Northern Spy's artists since I haven't been disappointed by them yet and I came across these guys. The album cover is a good representation of what it sounds like: dark ambient with some neofolk tinges. It's a collaboration between Joel RL Phelps of Silkworm and Downer Trio and G. Stuart Dahlquist of Sunn O))), Goatsnake, and Burning Witch. This album sounds like Roger Waters (I make this comparison because of the vocals) if he went on an ambient route and wasn't so far up his ass. The singer kind of sounds like him and his use of intervals are similar. An interesting listen, to say the least. I like it to a degree but I think it's going to take a few more listens before I let my opinion fully sink in.

Karsten Pflum "Tracks"

Such a nice little album, full of twee like IDM. It just feels so sweet and fun.
