i think Spyby is incredibly underrated in every way....even in his respective genre....those early Dead Voices on Air albums are still to this day amazingly hypnotic....and even the later albums bring a sense of freshness to drone industrial.....and it sucks that i can't really find much info about him....cause in the late 90s early 00s he put out an amazing collection of collaboration albums....my personal favorite was the one with Scorn....i can't find anything about these albums :(

They agree with you in that his collaborations were the stuff of genius. I'll have to check it out myself. I always loved Skinny puppy. Fatguy<---cake

John Zorn/George Lewis/Bill Frisell - More News For Lulu (1992)

I haven't gotten hold of the first album (News For Lulu) but whilst looking for it, I realised I actually had this in a folder. So here goes...

edit: And now I have his whole discography downloading so woop.

Have you heard Zorn and Lewis's album with Derek Bailey, Yankees? I like it better than the one with Frisell, it's a bit more adventurous.

I haven't, but I think it is in this torrent.

I remember enjoying A Fire in the Bronx Zoo, his collaboration with Not Breating (who's own album The Black Old Pueblo from 10 years later is quite awesome BTW). I've only listened to a handful of DVOA albums to be honest, but they were always super interesting. I'm just not always interested in ambient and drone. I need to relisten to the ones I have.

John French, Denny Walley, Gary Lucas, Mark Boston and Michael Traylor performing live as The Magic Band in Oxford, England on June 6, 2005. A smokin' hot performance by the band with John French doing a superb job channeling the vocals of the late, great Captain Beefheart. Well worth the reasonable $5.99 (US) price of the album. Highly recommended for any fan of Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band.
