Screamin' Jay Hawkins - Black Music for White People (1991)

A worthwhile album from Screamin' Jay Hawkins, uneven in a couple of spots but still thoroughly enjoyable for the most part. The weakest (and forgettable) tunes are a version of Screamin' Jay's biggest hit "I Put a Spell on You" re-worked into an awful rap number, and an uninspired cover of "I Hear You Knockin'" by Dave Bartholomew & Pearl King. The rest of the album is solid, though, and even has a couple of good covers of Tom Waits songs, "Heart Attack and Vine" and "Ice Cream Man."

Prolapse - Pointless Walks to Dismal Places (1994)
First time listening to this band, British Post-Punk/Post-Hardcore album with male/female vocals. The male is dominant and has a thick British accent, kinda sounds Irish to me. Overall I like it. It's got some quiet/loud moments, some subtle radio or TV-type samples in a slow instrumental ("Hungarian Suicide Song"), and some less hardcore, more indie style moments (think Pavement perhaps). I could see giving this 4/5 stars after some more listens.

Sia – 1000 Forms of Fear.

The UPS person (aka the "Christmas in August" person) just dropped it off. :)

Motorpsycho - Timothy's Monster (1994)
I think I've been aware of this band for some time, but haven't listened to them. It's also possible I'm confusing them with another band that has a similar name. I always thought they were more metal though. This is way more indie rock than I expected. A bit fuzzy, definitely 90s, but the production is crisp and I dig the sound. I realized halfway through that it's a double-album, with several long tracks so it overstays its welcome a little bit, but it's good. From indie to psychedelic/space rock.

Gonjusufi - A Sufi and a Killer

Digging this very much, exceeds different genres seamlessly. Hip-hop, psychedelic rock, I even hear a little funk thrown in there. Love Flying Lotus' contribution to the track "Ancestors" as well.

Just recently got the album Doomsayer by The Scimitar. Pretty solid album, certainly better than the recent Black Pyramid stuff.
