It's been a long while, and great to be back here once again! To those new to seeing my name, I say a warm hello to you (as I see a lot of new names here!).
I listen to a lot of music, and there will be times when I pop up a name that those who know my main interests might be surprised to see me mention. This is one of them... I have had a lot of adventures in record buying in the last couple of months, but one of the more recent finds that might interest you has been by a band called Adai from Denver, who have popped up from time to time with a couple of EPs that have been collected on one CD. It's good, kind of a "Atmospheric Sludge Metal" that's a little tuneful (not that I mind at all, of course!) and the package is ultra cool with a one-sided vinyl with an etching on the other and a CD. It seems that they are no longer recording, although the expense in putting this together must have cost them a lot, but I hope to hear more although it has been since 2010. The label, Cavity Records, is from Toledo, OH, who's last update on their site was from 2013 with an Across Tundras/Lark's Tongue split. Have to resist playing it like crazy to keep that collector's value up although there is a color vinyl version too. Click on the pictures to see the full view. But their a (mostly) female punk band, not unlike Babes in Toyland or Sleater-Kinney or the like. And yes, it is indeed very good. and im currently listening to http://f1.bcbits.com/img/a2379817601_2.jpg Woodfall by Musk Ox atmospheric dark folk i guess. Sounds like only strings throughout; violins, cellos, the works. It's quite nice, I could get used to this. EDIT: wow this is gorgeous. |

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vNccXBwHgm...00/rlfrnds.jpg I've become a sucker for pop-punk in the last few years, I don't know what happened but this band is catchy as hell and I like them a lot. Tawny Peaks - In The Silver River http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--igSHkATLh...eaks-river.jpg Nice little twinkle band from my home town. |

Hans-a-plast - Hans-a-plast 2 Getting into the German Post-Punk and New Wave seen and this is probably the highlight so far. Love the girl's voice. http://cps-static.rovicorp.com/3/JPG...er=allrovi.com Earwig - Under My Skin I Am Laughing Solid Shoegaze/Post-Rock album from the nineties. Also a beautiful album cover and album title in my opinion. |
I got a used version of Spectrum's Soul Kiss at the record store. I asked the guy working there if he had anything of his/theirs. First he said no, but then he found the CD in the back room, which was cool.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band - Mardi Gras in Montreux (1986) Pulled this out of my vinyl collection for a spin this morning. Some very energetic and upbeat music to start the day! |
Once I finish my list of things that I have to listen to (mostly free jazz and other avant-garde stuff left at this point), I'm going to have to just go through this thread and listen to a ton of the stuff people say is good. You all have way more obscure tastes than I do.
