All this Swans talk and no one has mentioned Love of Life? I think that's their best album.

you have to remember....at least in my case....i'm 15 or more years older than you...and i've been listening to them since the mid 90s.....i love their older material....specifically the EPs Cop and Young God....and i wasn't kidding....that music gets into me....my muscles twitch, and the memories of those times come back.....its a wonderful feeling....but just not one i can handle often

plus i think some of Gira's best lyrics are on Soundtracks For the Blind

and yes you should check out White Light....it's an amazing album as is Love of Life and The Burning World....but i will say that The Burning World does to me what the early recordings do but on a purely emotional level

edit

i was typing this as you responded....

i can't remember if i told you or not but our conversation about Love of Life a while back....i was referring to The Burning World when i said it's just too much of a bummer

This week's haul

Linkin' Park - Hunting Party(the only one I have listened to so far and after one play through. I'm not so sure about it. I do like the track with Rakim and Rebellion.)
Jennifer Lopez - A.K.A.
Tiesto - A Town Called Paradise
Mali Music - Mali Is
Swollen Members - Brand New Day
Clean Bandit - New Eyes
Ghost Town - The After Party

Within this past week, I've been on a binge:

Downloads:

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92

I loved Volume II, so I knew I had to check out Volume I

CD Purchase:

Pavement - Wowie Zowie
The Cure - Faith
Mogwai - Mr. Beast

Checked out from the library:

John Coltrane & Don Cherry - The Avant-Garde
Local Natives - Hummingbird
Beach House - Teen Dream
They Might Be Giants - Lincoln
Elliott Smith - Kill Rock Stars
Gotye - Making Mirrors

Have yet to listen to all of them, but I'm on a mission to do so.

Lonerism by Tame Impala

Awesome to hear psychedelia of this caliber being made by a modern band.

Alex G - DSU

I definitely have a weakness for bedroom pop. I can't wait to listen to this.

Scott Barkan - Flightless Bird

Damn this looks promising. It's available for free on bandcamp.
