I love that Broken Ankles EP. I have played it out quite a bit.
I listened to this album once but I have mixed feelings about it and it's leaning mostly to it being pretty lame. I guess I expected more based off of some street singles/promos that came out. I wish he would have put those on the album. Throwing Snow - Clamor EP Throwing Snow - Aspera EP PowerMan 5000 - Builders of the Future. Haven't heard them in years, was kind of excited when I saw this. Haven't listened to it yet. Mariah Carey - Me, I Am Mariah... Elusive Chauntese. Edit: google censorship strikes again, the pic was too sexy (or weird) Had no idea this was coming out but giving it a go.

donno about this. nothing really stayed with me on first listen. It was just kind of.. there. They might be one of those strange bands where I love exactly one of their songs and am completely indifferent to everything else they do. |

Bob Mould's newest, which naturally I'm excited for. Still needs another listen or two but I'm already digging "Little Glass Pill"
I finally got my copy of Thee Oh Sees latest too, money's been tight. And this I found used, couldn't resist. |

Tigers Jaw - Charmer
So much of the original band is gone...but I'm still really curious to hear this one. Brave Bird- T-Minus Grand Gesture I had no idea this was coming out. Had to pick it up.

I love that album. It gets very out there and reaches some new places...even for Brötzmann. One of my favourites from 2013, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

First time hearing this Wavves album. Not particularly impressed. Its okay, not something I'll revisit most likely.

Talib Kweli - Gravitas (2013) Yeah so this one kind of slipped by last year. I guess being released on December 15th and only through Talib Kweli's personal website will cripple you with distribution. Anyways, I think after the rather lackluster Prisoners of Consciousness from earlier in the year, I guess I wasn't really looking for another Kweli album. However I have already given this one a listen and it's definitely worth a spin. This one feels like both a more personal and a more real album, as if someone just told Talib to go and rap about whatever he wanted to and to hell with the marketing. It also helps that he's stepped up his game on the mic. Natti - Still Motion (2013) Here's another one that completely slipped me by last year. I swear I go out of my way to keep up with the members of CunninLynguists, but Natti's debut solo album somehow got by me as well. I've always felt that Natti was the most under utilized member of CunninLynguists, and it was on this album that I realized why he feels that way. Natti has this seemingly bizarre ability to compress a 4 minute song down into 2 and a half, and have it feel as if you listened to a longer song. Another thing I realized is that all their solo albums thus far have sounded, to one degree or another, like a CunninLynguist album. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing, nor a complaint, but the similarities in content matter, beats, and rhyme schemes remains the same. I like the idea of a mini-CunninLynguist album every couple of years, it's like having an appetizer to their main output. |
