I don't listen to Thievery Corporation all that much, but they are nice to listen to on a rainy day where you just want to relax. It's also been a bit of a slow for releases this year so I'm kind of just going to listen to whatever I can get my hands on.

Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City This is the soundtrack to sitting at a Starbucks in Brooklyn eating gluten-free macarons. Do they even have macarons at Starbucks? Anyway, the song "Step" was pretty good. Overall decent album, though not outstanding.

I've been listening to the new La Dispute album, Rooms of the house. They're a really unique band and the story telling with the lyrics is amazing. The spoken word vocals were a bit difficult to get into at first but I've gotten used to it now and it's probably one of my favorite releases of the year so far.

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib - Pinata (2014) Been awhile since I've listened to a newer hip hop release, and this one has been getting a lot of hype. So far I'm liking the production and the lyrics for the most part. Sisyphus - Sisyphus (2014) Hip hop album involving Son Lux and Sufjan Stevens, that's enough to catch my interest. |

Under the Rainbow - Black Lips Nothing they do will ever compare to Arabia Mountain, nonetheless the garage Rock revival they've been riding on for the last few records still keep going strong. Downloading now

Splatter - Scraffiti This is basically your standard free jazz, I can hear influences from Jim Black, Tim Berne, Art Ensemble of Chicago, and Evan Parker's September Winds among others. This album has fantastic percussion that isn't too show-boaty and the reeds have very good chemistry. This is a bit on the slower side for free jazz, luckily these guys know how to do it right. I think I might end up writing about this album in the albums you're digging thread after a few more listens.
