One of my favourite bands from the early 90s, they've had a bit of a comeback in the last few years and sound better than they ever did then. They have this kind of late night smoke filled room vibe to them similar to bands like Tindersticks or later Afghan Whigs (Who's first album in years is coming out next month :D ) but they're not afraid to rock out a bit either. The opening 9 minute track on the album is amazing. |

Lou Reed and John Cale - Songs For Drella There was a time when I probably would have loved this album to pieces, but I just didn't get into it. My tastes have changed a little, and I think it's simpley not that good. |
Lee! Welcome back man! You have been missed around here. Hope you're back to stay! :tramp:

Sweet Smoke - Live (1974) The third LP release from this progressive jazz rock band, recorded live in Berlin, Musikhochschule. Three songs (one on side 1 and two on side 2) with fantastic musicianship and extended jams that held my attention and never got boring or self indulgent. Well worth a listen for fans of the genre. There is also a CD version (haven't heard it yet) available with extra tracks included. |
