Lydia Loveless - Indestructible Machine (2011)

She's kind of like a younger Neko Case but with more of a punk rock edge.

Here & Now - Theatre. Only available on vinyl. So I bought the vinyl on eBay and had it transferred to CD.

1970 solo album from the chick who was in Os Mutantes.
RYM lists it as being Pop, Baroque Pop, Psychedelic Pop, Tango, Vocal Jazz, and it's also in Portuguese.
Should be interesting.

Went used, got into an Apple Records mood - Badfinger's 1973 release, Ass, and Mary Hopkin's Earth Song Ocean Song.

Finding both recall childhood memories of going through a Cut Out bin at Hills around 1981 and finding Badfiner's album, but rejecting it as I knew the parents would object to getting an album with that title, and Hopkin's Post Card, which I bought but only half liked (the show tune ruined any chance of 100 percent approval).

Badfinger - a flawed album but still with some excellent songs plus the classic "Apple of My Eye" (see 'ya Apple!...but with some regret) and "Timeless".

Hopkin's Earth Song - They really should have found a way to promote this, but it was one of the many fine albums that were shoved by the wayside, and knowing the Apple Records story, it was possibly expected. Appearances by Ralph McTell and Danny Thompson plus Dave Cousins of the Strawbs should spark interest with 70's Folk fans. Her vocals are excellent and (soon to be husband) Tony Visconti's Production is simple and tasteful.

Ironically enough, I went to the Apple Records site for some info for Earth Song and found Badfinger's "Apple Of My Eye" on the player when I got there. DAMN!!!

I always wondered if anything after the debut by Hopkins was worth listening to. I'll have to check it out. And I do love me some Badfingrr. Picked up Ass on vinyl last year, I was pleasantly surprised.

Here's some songs for a good sample. With Hopkin, I usually avoid the Pop singles in between the two albums which led to her being disenchanted with the Star game. The first mark of going a more Folk style was "Let My Name Be Sorrow", a stand alone single that was added onto the CD release, and then Earth Song Ocean Song.

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

Been a good long while since I've listened to this one, I kind of forgot how much I like it.

Thurston Moore & Mats Gustafsson - Vi är Alla Guds Slavar

Some noisy prepared (and unprepared at points) guitar from Moore, amazing stuff as usual. Gustafsson lays down some pretty good electronics to accompany it, and I believe that he plays the soprano sax on the second track, an instrument I'ven't heard his take on before. This consists of two 20 minute improvisations and it's pretty good.
