Actually agree. Electric Lady bored me to tears.

Yep, completely bored me too. I bought it blind, assuming it would be good.

I disagree. I like the range on this album more and her playing with different styles.

I would normally appreciate that but she does it rather blandly in my opinion. And it didn't seem all that diverse either.

While I don't think The Electric Lady is quite as memorable as The ArchAndroid, I'll disagree with you on the diversity front. One of the more interesting aspects about Janelle is her ability to shift stylistically on a dime, and you get that even on her lesser songs.

Oh, and my review of it kicked ass, so there.

I quite liked the change ups on the record, it's what pushed me to like it so much. The album does overstay its welcome, but I'm sure with more listens I'll mind that less. I'll check out her other album as well if you guys think it's better.

I think I have forgotten exactly what it was like tbh. Seriously underwhelming.

Do you know of any R&B records I'd dig as I'm in the mood for it? I only listen to Marvin Gaye in lady-friend company so I don't know anything about the genre really.

I am not massively into old school R&B (or the genre in general) but there are some that I have heard and liked. Mainly contemporary stuff in my listening history. here goes:

Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Part One (4th World War) (and her other albums basically)
The Equatics - Doin It!!!!
Eddie Kendricks - People...Hold On
Melt Yourself Down - Melt Yourself Down
Janelle Monáe - The ArchAndroid
Georgia Anne Muldrow - Umsindo
Prince - Dirty Mind / 1999
THEESatisfaction - awE naturalE
Adele - 19
D'Angelo - Voodoo
Dam-Funk - Toeachizown Vol. 1: LAtrik
Robert Glasper Experiment - Black Radio
Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
Seal - Seal

Oh ja, I like Prince from time to time too. Thanks for the recommendations, man.
