Another good haul from just picking things up randomly. I love how good i am at picking up great albums just basing off the album cover (ok Wold was a cheat since i have heard their stuff before but still)

NAILS - ABANDON ALL LIFE (2013) Second full length album from California grindcore/crust band. Clocks in at a barely EP-length 17 minutes of aggressive, heavy violence. REVOCATION - (2013) Fourth album from American technical death metal band Revocation. There are moments of more melodic death, a little thrash thrown into the mix. It was decent enough on first listen, if not anything outstanding. CHELSEA WOLFE - PAIN IS BEAUTY (2013) Rather quite beautiful blend of breathy darkwave and down-tempo electronica. With violins. ANCIIENTS - HEART OF OAK (2013) Canadian progressive metal band. At times what seems a rather standard slow/fast or light/dark structure, alongwith a mixture of clean and harsh vocals. Really though, the more I listen to it I appreciate a far more intelligent, complex structure of a record that showcases both its progressive moments and its riffy stoner metal moments. |

Mutual Benefit - Love's Crushing Diamond
I downloaded this last night, but haven't listened to it yet, from what I've read it's gorgeous orchestral folk, and I can definitely get behind that.

Chance the Rapper - Acid Rap Finally giving this one a listen after seeing a few people here mention it (I think Manky put it as his aoty). Definitely digging the jazzy vibe on this album so far even though it borders on soul, which I tend to dislike. However, I think that Acid Rap uses the soul element pretty well. I can see what people are saying about his voice being too nasally, but I don't find it grating. The instrumentals are definitely the best part so far (only on the third track at the time of this review).

I like the album quite a bit, it'll definitely be getting some more spins from me.

He made it to number 16 or something like that on Rolling Stones top 50 albums of the year but it's Rolling Stones so take it or leave it.
