I received a welcome surprise from Feedbands this afternoon, my first record from their monthly subscription service. This one is a punk/surf-rock record from a trio of girls from Santa Cruz.

Got a bunch of vinyls today, mostly Hip-Hop and a few Dubstep so I'll be posting a bit more regarding those.
Computer Jay - Maintain Instrumental Hip-Hop, it's only 4 instrumentals. Never heard of these guys but was pleasantly surprised by it, it's psychedelic and a bit dreamy, sounds a bit like Kraftwerk in places imo. The other three tracks are remixes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE1PBVzcORk Pretty nice imo. Terror Danjah - You Make Me Feel/Morph 2 ft. DOK 2 tracks, both absolute bangers, this vinyl is a beast. You Make Me Feel is a laid back Garage/Dub track, best description is just to say it sounds like Terror Danjah. Morph 2 one of the best instrumentals of 2011 (sequel to the original Morph). Can listen here - http://www.junodownload.com/products...el/1856508-02/ Last edited by Cuthbert; 08-28-2013 at 07:02 AM. |

really looking forward to the remixes catching up a bit on 2013 Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Specter at the Feast this is one of those bands that i always assume will disappoint me....but have yet to.....they have stuck with the same formula since 2001 but somehow bring something fresh and amazing to each album Amplifier - Echo Street and Sigur Rós - Kveikur got them....but have not listened to it yet....the plan was to go on a long ride ride today....but for those of you who don't know....there is a HUGE forest fire outside of Yosemite national Park....andf the jet stream is putting ALL of that smoke right on top of the Reno area....it is officially unsafe to breathe here .....these will have to wait for long drive starting on Friday |

Not only is this the coolest album I've heard all year, you can also play a fantastic drinking game listening to it by playing the 'Have a Drink Every Time You Recognise A Sample Taken From This Album' game. Here's a list if you feel like cheating... http://samplehappy.com/artist/?aId=1943

And I cannot believe they haven't included Thought @ Work by The Roots in that list of samples.

I'm surprised I've not come across it a lot sooner too. I've always listened to a lot of 'Roots of Hip Hop' type albums.

ROTTING CHRIST - TRIARCHY OF THE LOST LOVERS (1996) I'll be listening to some Rotting Christ over the next few weeks. They are playing a festival I'm planning on going to in November, I'm just hoping I'm not too disappointed by the stage times when they are released and I can fit in most of the bands I want to see. Wonderful, gothic, melodic black metal. YEAR OF NO LIGHT - AUSSERWELT (2010) Same as above, but I absolutely have to see these. Cant remember If I posted this one already but I've listening to it more since anyway, alongwith a couple more of theirs. French atmospheric sludge mixed with post-rock. WILL MCNICOL - SNAPSHOTS (2011) WILL MCNICOL - THE WAKE UP (2013) Picked these up from a gig of his I attended a few weeks back. Nice, talented, acoustic guitarist specialsing in instrumental folk and classical guitar. Again I forget if I posted these already, but whatever. SLABDRAGGER - REGRESS (2011) Solid, if not exactly magnificent, English sludge. |

Ahh textures textures. I don't give two craps what genre I am listening as long as I am intrigued, surprised, moved or just grooved out. This isn't grooved out but it is beguiling and proof that Folk music can be fascinating at times. Superb track. If you love Burial then this is right up your alley.
