also got David Yow-Tonight You look Like a Spider exactly what i was expecting but nothing like i thought it would be.....Yow on lots of acid maybe?, Yow having a schizophrenic seizure?....either way this album is amazing and although there are elements of what he is best at....they are few ...making this very unique and well worth a listen |

Recently downloaded a show by The Mermen, from April 6th of this year.
The band sounds as amazing as ever, playing for 2 hours & 44 minutes and making the finest instrumental psychedelic surf music to ever come out of San Francisco (or anywhere else.) Mermen Live at Slim's on 2013-04-06 : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive |

Coconuts s/t I heard one of their songs in a game, did a bit of digging, and apparently they hail from my city! I decided to purchase their 12" EP, and surprise myself with the rest of the tracks. Floex "Zoyra" So good, so fucking good. Wonderful jazz melodies mixed with electronic experimentation. I'm really, really enjoying this so far, and I really dig the acoustic instruments thrown into the mix of samples, and jittering beats. |

I was playing them in Plug just the other night, introduced a few people to 'em. Floex is one of my favorite in the very vague group of bands I know of who play "electronic alterna-jazz." Not really a genre so much as an explanation. Anyway, good choice picking it up. Their other album is quite good, as well.

Bloodshot Bill—Thunder and Lightning Sequoioideae played a live video of this one man rockabilly band in Plug the other day and it kind of blew my mind. I wasn't sure how well the raw manic mood of the live stuff would translate to a studio album, but the answer is it translates really, really well. Great stuff. Thanks Sequoioideae! |
