I haven't gotten around to posting it in "albums you're digging," but I have been coming back to Woman over and over again the last few months. I can't seem to get away from it. It's really quite good, with all of it's funky soul and disco-esque stuff. Quote:

Just finished this, and I'm still trying to piece my thoughts together about it. I'm unsure, but since the records only 21 minutes long I might as well just listen to it again to better understand it.

Madlib, gettin' hard and heavy. Progressive soul/funk/hip hop/black power music. Funky soul with lots and lots and lots of instruments. Give me a disco-ballad vibe every once in awhile. Modern jazz fusion with some surprising twists. And now I'm listening to... Jneiro Janel and others, goin' hard. I'm just in a funky mood right now.

I can tell this is hardly like Back To Black, but I still like it a lot. She sings much better on Back To Black though. She almost sounds like a little girl, as opposed to Black where her soulful crack voice is much more mature.

Why would I listen to an album with such an awfully tacky album cover? Because it has the amazing 12 Inch remix of 'I Feel Love' on it. A song that single handedly did more for electronic music than an entire boatload of Kraftwerk albums.

or how about just simply because Donna Summer was the shit.....I Feel Love always reminds me of Throbbing Gristle or at least Chris Carter
continuing my Krautrock education....and i honestly think i found a new favorite in the genre Amon Düül II - Phallus Dei review....wow, where have you been all my life, and LOOK they have a huge catalog!!!!! finally got my copy of the new Position Parallèle album Position Parallèle - Néons Blancs much darker than their first album.....but still very danceable syth pop tracks with a slight sadistic edge....i really like hearing Geoffrey's less militant side....but i'm sorry this in no way compares to last years Dernière Volonté album |
