Spiritual Front - Open Wounds finally came in the mail very impressive packaging.....really it's mainly two cds of re-recordings of the bands older tracks with a few new songs....but changed enough to create an entire different feeling....so far well done |

Soundtrack - The Source Family Acid rock & cult chants, a bizarre collection of music from Father Yod & members of the Source Family. Missed the film when it showed here a couple weeks ago but hope it comes round again soon. V/A - Enjoy the Experience : Homemade Records 1958-2004 Excellent double disc set collects tracks of psych, funk, folk, jazz, lounge & other genres from private press albums. Very nice packaging for this album as well. |

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE - ...LIKE CLOCKWORK (2013) Brilliant. Strikes a good balance between radio-sounding singles and big, dirty riffs. Their best for a while, possibly since Songs for the Deaf. AT THE GATES - TERMINAL SPIRIT DISEASE (1994) Amongst the first death metal I heard, revisisted today alongwith 'Slaughter of the Soul'. Much more melogic time in the bands career when compared to their earlier stuff, and damn good. NAAM - NAAM (2009) I band I heard but didn't actually see at a festival recently, as I was mostly preoccupied and distracted, and this band served as somewhat of a wind down inbetween bands I knew and really wanted to see. What a mistake. Fresh, ripe, heavy psych stoner metal, with plenty of vocal harmonies and softer, more grander, mellow moments. Very, very good. |

The album art alone makes me want to check it out but too bad I'm squeamish about death metal.
NAAM is more up my alley though and will be listening to that album if I can find it.
