When Scott Miller of the Loud Family/Game Theory died on the 15th, free downloads of long out-of-print Game Theory albums were posted on the Loud Family website. I've download a few albums, especially my favorite "Lolita Nation".
Hopefully the download links still work: Loud Family - Scott Miller - Music: What Happened? |

Agrypnie - Aetas Cineris (2013) I found out about these guys back in 2010 when they released 16[485] which was one of the metal albums from that year that really stuck with me. Trying to define them is a little difficult, but they follow a black metal approach, but with more of an ISIS or mid '90's Neurosis approach. Progressive metal seems the most appropriate, but be warned that this is a long album. There's 10 tracks in total and none of them are shorter than 8 minutes, so strap yourselves in for a long ride. Not a bad one, but I can definitely see people zoning in and out of this. |

Rubber Factory - The Black Keys Man, what happened to these guys? They used to be so great.

I've been in pre-Desert Fest mode this week. Trying to nail down my schedule for the weekend. Listening to albums and bands I know, love, and can't wait to see and of course some of the stuff I haven't heard before. DOZER - CALL IT CONSPIRACY (2003) Big stoner riffs but certainly not a slow-burning, sludgy album. Immediate impact. I can't decide whether I want to see these or Wo-Fat. GLOWSUN - ETERNAL SEASON (2012) French hypnotic psychedelic/stoner metal band. I've been enjoying this album from last year and expect them to provide both a meditative easing into the Sunday afternoon and an injection of rif***e to help rid of Saturdays hangover. LATITUDES - AGONIST (2009) Slick atmospheric sludge metal and nice post-rock interludes. Should serve as a welcome window of chill-out on Sunday before Colour Haze and Pentagram. ABRAHMA - THROUGH THE DUSTY PATHS OF OUR LIVES (2012) A random Bandcamp find from six months or so ago, of French desert stoner rock that I'm very much looking forward to hearing live. Ryhthmic drums and layered riffs. SEA BASTARD - S/T (2012) Bleak, miserable, down-tempo doom metal. Should be a great start to the day on Sunday. |

What's the last record sound like? I've seen it a few times on some forums. Is it new?
