Psychic Ills - One Track Mind (2013) Streaming this for the second time on Spotify, pretty chill and accessible psychedelic rock.

Actually found a second Meshuggah album in store. A serious revelation. Haven't listened to it yet since the girls where I live hate "screamo." Even though they don't know what they're talking about. I was hoping for obZen but hell if I find it in stores.

The new Voivod. Wow! Still an absolutely stunning band after all these years. Anyone who says that Metal is a cliched unoriginal genre should listen to this. A fantastic return to form. Best cover art I have seen for a long while. He has said that a lot of modern music is so faceless these days and what better way to portray that than have your own image blanked out meaning that you just have to judge the music within on it's own merits and it is a damn good album reuniting him with producer Tony Visconti.

Great sound from these guys, familiar yet somehow refreshing reggae vibes.

THE STROKES - COMEDOWN MACHINE (2013) Only listened to it once and I'm unsure what to make of it. I certainly wasn't overwhelmed though. It seemed very 80s synth-pop/new wave and while I don't necessarily think this is a bad route for them to take, due to the fact I did like Julian Casablanca's solo album, I just felt it was a bit too much. I'll listen to it again at some point when it comes out but for now you can stream it here. |
