Redd Kross - Researching the Blues (August 2012)
Taken me ages to get round to listening to this, but completely worth it, really enjoyed it! Their earlier work has had a very varied set of influences, songs like "Bubblegum Factory" from kids telly as much as anything, but this album has darker elements, more of the power pop sound coming out here. "Stay Away from Downtown" and "Researching the Blues" seem to have more menacing punk lyrics in my opinion: "Keep it together, just be cool those voices you hear are just fucking with you get on that train or you're heading for a permenant vacation..." An imensely enjoyable album, love these guys! |

Various Artists - Whom The Moon a Nightsong Sings (2010) A double compilation of dark folk. If you are looking for music similar to a quiet acoustic passage in a progressive black metal song (but without the black metal of course) you will find plenty of it on this. I've only listened to the first disc so far but I like what I hear.
