Right now I'm listening to Electric Wizard's Dopethrone. Turn it on, let the riffs overwhelm you, zone out.

More good used album finds!!!
Elmer Bernstein - Soundtrack - The Man with the Golden Arm (Decca) A worn cover, but the vinyl is still pretty good. Excellent soundtrack! Wizard - Introducing Eddie and the Falcons Cut-out (One on the top left, and a circular one bottom right). A pretty good album from Roy Wood's band. Nothing too surprising, but very listenable. Fine throwback to the 50's with a touch of Wood's unique attitude. Three Dog Night - Coming Down Your Way The final Top 100 album (US). "Til the World Ends" was their final Top 40, and there was very little to write home about except for a couple of good songs (title track included). Remember hearing a commercial for it on CKLW I think. The Kingsmen - Up and Away Worn cover, but at least the album was pretty playable. Reunited with "Trouble" which was I think the last track on the Rhino Best of CD, but this was the sound of a once-mighty band going through the motions with a number of half-power covers and some not as exciting new tracks. Still worth the Dollar for the lead off track! Mink De Ville - Le Chat Bleu Capitol Cut-Out Dot on the top right hand corner Fine album, although the label delayed the release a bit. Recorded in Paris, with a slight change in style, but still street wise. Ace Frehley - Frehley's Comet Cut out bottom right hand, Saw cut Real Solo Debut from the Ex-Kiss lead guitarist, with notable back up including Late Night drummer Anton Fig. Good, although not on the level of the Kiss Solo Album. Buddy Miles - A Message to the People Cut Out (Dot, top right corner) Ultra fine album from the legend, released on Mercury. I can understand the hesitation of the painting featuring the topless ladies on the back cover (still a cold feet giver), but those who bought the album then (and now!) will get a solid album of fine music. Dion - S/T The 1968 Laurie album that had "Abraham, Martin, and John," although also with the cover of "Purple Haze." Still worthy of a salute for being a successful attempt to break away from the Belmonts style after some under-preforming singles. Stories - S/T Cut-out, but still in damn fine shape! "Brother Louie" is on the album, but fans of The Left Banke should check it out for what's beyond it. Michael Brown's final real shot at the brass ring, and at least there was one massive single out of it. Split Enz - Conflicting Emotions Featuring "Message to My Girl." Still have not checked it out, but should soon. I liked the quirky Pop of this band, but this sounds like the farewell album I want to hear. You know the kind - a little moody around the edges, possibly hinting at other projects. I loved the single back in the day! Golden Earring - To the Hilt and Grab It for a Second Two shots of decent 70's Rock that may not have a "Radar Love" on them, but still good professional playing. For those moments I want something that does not take my brain elsewhere. except to the imaginary bar a stone's throw away from the factory (and I mean real factory, not the Warhol or Wilson kind!) Neilsen/Pearsen - S/T Two Country-based songwriters join up with Producer Richard Landis and Pro Musicians for a collection of common slick pop, The inclusion of David Foster in the backing band should interest one of you, but the most important thing here is that the Pearsen half turned into a Pop Country Hit songwriter starting off with Juice Newton. Producer Landis also worked on another Capitol Cut Out regular that was the starting point of a mega songwriting career, Desmond Child and Rouge (Yes, I have that album, too!). Keith Moon - Two Sides of the Moon. Bought as it should be bought, Cut Out, with the entire package in full. Obviously the album was possibly played once, if at all. Still, it's Moon the Loon, and I loved to at least get the album in the collection just to say I have it. Don't need the CD reissue, this will do just fine. Deep Purple - Concerto for Group and Orchestra Re-issue on the 70's Warners label, cut out, but the music is worth more than what I got it for. OK, a bit over ambitious, but still worthy of a listen (or in my case more!). Last edited by Screen13; 12-09-2012 at 08:42 PM. |

Just downloaded and am currently listening to...
MellowHype - Numbers So far not nearly as interesting as BlackenedWhite, but I'm only 3 songs in, so I'm going to give it more of a chance.
