Forgetters - Self Titled New Blake Schwarzenbach tunes! Finally, a proper album from his newest band. Fun.

The debut and only album by Arzachel. Keyboard driven psych/prog rock featuring Steve Hillage (guitar, vocals), Dave Stewart (organ), Mont Campbell (bass, vocals) and Clive Brooks (drums), who had previously been members of the band Uriel.

Went to the record store today and left spending a lot more than I intended. I bought the 'Endless Summer' compilation by the Beach Boys and 12-track Greatest Hits album for the Hollies, but I also got a monster Jerry Lee Lewis box.
It's a twelve LP set but it's beautiful. I had only heard his singles before buy I bought this set on a whim (it got taken out from behind the counter while I was there and this store has never wronged me pricewise) and so far it has been a good purchase. It basically groups all of his core Sun recordings and surrounds them with outtakes, but it has really nice song-by-song liner notes on each sleeve. Really paints a picture of the man. That said, I've only listened to the first two LPs so far but it seems like a really nice set to me. |

And while I'm hangin' around...
This was considered a bit of a lackluster album by Diana Ross & The Supremes when it was released, but in retrospect, it holds up quite well to the test of time. Their cover of "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures") makes the album worth checking out alone (IMO.) |
