Band Of Horses - Mirage Rock (2012) My first impressions of this album are not good. They seemed to have strayed even closer to bland, middle-of-the-road country rock than Infinite Arms. A few songs on this album are above average but others are just plain terrible. To think this is the same band that recorded the brilliant song 'The Funeral' and sounded like they could do no wrong. Dinosaur Jr. - I Bet On Sky (2012) Yeah not a bad album, but it really does sound very Dino J by numbers. Nothing in particular really stands out to me so far apart from some cool riffs here and there. But I suppose if there's one song that does stick out it's Lou Barlow's 'Rode' which sounds very unusual by Dinosaur Jr's standards, not quite sure what to make of it but it is kind of interesting. Another play might reveal a bit more.
