OK, I will have to admit, I have got a couple of Ratt albums recently - Invasion of Your Privacy (1985) and Dancing Undercover (1986). Nice time wasters, both used and Cut Out, with good musicianship on these albums. I'm having some odd thing with getting these Cut Outs in the used bins as of late, but this time saving method of going through the used bins has been adding on quite a few nice finds. I always liked Hanoi, what little I heard of them. |

Albert Ayler, Holy Ghost. Once again, I owe it all to the magnificent Frownland. This is 7.8 hours of rare recordings of the free jazz insanity that was Albert Ayler. SEVEN POINT EIGHT FREAKING HOURS. That is ridiculously awesome. I've already listened to a bit more than an hour and it is great so far, can't wait to jump into the rest!

That's a fantastic album, it's definitely my favourite thing I've heard from Sharrock. It even edges out Black Woman. Pharoah Sanders is brilliant on it as well, I love his saxophone work on Promises Kept.

Decided to get a couple of albums that I liked a few years back, and thanks to a few members who are sending me / sent me some of them.
Cassadaga was the first Bright Eyes album I ever had and by far one of my all time favorites. It led me to look into his other releases because it this one was his second to last release at the moment. I also got Digital Ash and Lifted or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground. Lifted or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground is one that I haven't heard yet so i'm pretty excited to hear how it sounds. I also went ahead and downloaded a few on my own that I know i'm going to enjoy: A Swarm of The Sun - Zenith After discovering this band not even a month ago, I knew I had to have them on my music player. And a few Underoath albums because I have had the urge to add their music to my collection again for a long time. So I got these: Cries of the Past They're Only Chasing Safety |

I'm gonna kind of lump these two together because I've gotten them around the same time and listened to them roughly simultaneously. I got the craving for some really dark, engulfing ambient music. It kind of makes me think about the ongoing discussion thread on long music since a significant chunk of their tracks run the length of at least ten minutes. I totally acknowledge that the sheer length of some of these tracks is not everyone's preference, but when I'm sitting around at night by myself, it's sometimes fun to throw on one of those songs like The Blasted Plain or Godeater and just let it consume me. I'd also add the ending few minutes of Haze to the somewhat short list of music that legitimately scares the bejeezus out of me. At least, it did on the first listen-through. It might not be as effective at one in the afternoon as it was in the dead of night, but I still had the lights on, and I actually had to walk away from my laptop and go to the other side of the room with my back to the wall. |

C.A. Quintet - Trip Thru Hell Straight up psychedelic rock album. Used to listen to it a lot a few years back on spotify, but for some reason I never downloaded it.
