Kal Cahoone - Saints and Stars (2010)

Really talented female vocalist who was present on a number of albums and projects from the '90's "Denver Sound" scene, most notably being Tarantella's 2005 album Esqueletos, which is still one of my favourite albums from that scene. Very melancholy music laced with piano and acoustic work with a sparse and minimal use of production and instrumentation. Very personal sounding album and very beautiful.

Really like the bolded, especially Ghosts and Vodka. Also, I've been having a lot of trouble too. Kind of bumming me out how many "File Removed"s I'm getting.

All terrific early 20th century stuff. I'm especially enjoying the jazz comp since it's the first time I've had the chance to hear some early artists that I had only read about before, such as Jim Europe's band.

^ I shall check those out. I also want to get into more early Jazz/20th Century music.

The Triffids - Calenture (1987)
A good album although it does feel a bit over-produced. It's 80's jangle-pop with a widescreen, gospel feel to it. Enjoyable stuff.

Enemies - We've Been Talking (2010)
An Irish instrumental math-rock band. It manages to be catchy at times despite the absence of vocals and does a good job not being too complex musically. My attention did stray however at times but overall not a bad album.

Memoryhouse - The Slideshow Effect (2012)
Well this is underwhelming. I'm listening to this at the moment and I can pretty much say that it's a very bland and unremarkable album. 2012 in general has been a disappointment for me so far musically and this certainly isn't going to turn that around. All I can say is bring on the new Beach House album.

Beautiful, mellow music from Rhodesian musicologist Dumisani Abraham Maraire, released in the early 70s. Interesting little bit of trivia: his son is Tendai Maraire, one half of Shabazz Palaces.
