Burial - Untrue (2007) A very enjoyable and engaging album. What really grabs my attention is whole dreary and uncomfortable ambience that seems to wrap around you, making you feel isolated as you listen to it. It has a bit of a dark, rainy-day feel to it as well, almost as if it's a soundtrack to walking city streets in the rain on a dark and lonely evening. Boris - Boris At Last -Feedbacker- (2003) I'm slowly but surely making my way through their vast discography. This is an awesome album although it took me a few listens to really appreciate it. Not quite as enjoyable as Pink but a lot more interesting than Flood. Great stuff. Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (1986) It's alright I guess, I was in the mood for a good doom metal fix but this didn't quite register with me despite it supposedly being a key album in the genre. There's an obvious Black Sabbath influence, surprise surprise, but the music strays a bit too close to cheesy for my liking.

The Triffids - In the Pines (1986) Definitely helped set the tone for what many of the Denver alternative country bands would turn into Gothic Americana a decade late. Very nice blend of folk, country, and post-punk on this album. |
