Or as Lester Bangs wrote, "The Beach Boys Love You pulls off a feat that's eluded, say, Pete Townshend and Mick Jagger – it's almost more juvenile than their original stuff. It's not self-conscious, and it sounds right up-to-date. It's that joyous, rocking, soaring, roller-rink-in-the-sky sound that always made them the real American Music of the Spheres".

I definitely agree with everything you say about Love You. Except the cover. Blech.

Haven't fully listened to either yet but looking forward to them.

Ugly and vaguely offensive album cover aside, these recordings of his piano rolls (plus some other stuff) is some really great music. Too bad there are no actual recordings of him playing though.

It’s like a ghastly dayglo version of a Home Sweet Home needlepoint sign.

Yes, it definitely looks that way, come to think of it.

It actually reminds me a lot of the cover of Nilsson's The Point, for obvious reasons.

Yes, it does - and The Point cover was actual needlepoint by Kathy Torrence, Dean Torrence's (formerly of Jan & Dean) sister.

I have this CD of Joshua Rifkin playing Joplin rags. It's excellent.

Common Rider - Last Wave Rockers

According to reviews, this Punk/Indie album is either going to be great, or pretty average/good. Lets see.

It was between average and very good. Not essential.
